5 Crazy Ways To Fly Your Drone Thru Fireworks

in #drones7 years ago (edited)

Flying a drone thru fireworks probably isn’t the first thing you think of when you get your first drone. Neither is actually setting off fireworks from your drone itself. Who thinks of this? I know we all want that dope footage of a blast of red and green flames against the black sky in a dazzling display of speckled mushroom clouds, but do you really want to be picking up the pieces of your drone in the middle of an angry and possibly injured crowd? Yes or no?

I bet some of you do. If you’re like most risk takers you are willing to push every experience to the limits. How much high can you fly a drone? How fast can you can you fly a drone? How far can you fly a drone? So why would a flying thru firecrackers be any different?

I know there are a few like you who are willing to go the extra mile to get drone firework footage. So I couldn’t help but to dive into what flying your drone into flames of fireworks or turning your drone into fire and brimstone would look like.

Let me first say this…

You’re crazy!

But, You’re not alone!

If that makes you feel any better about potentially demolishing your $2,000 drone into flames…

...You’re welcome!

Okay so back that professional footage that we can only get from a sophisticate flying robot capable of hovering in and around blast that would make Bin Laden proud. Don’t get too geeked, we’re not expecting any casualties here...at least not the ones you’re thinking.

Most amature drone flyers will probably just fly their drone over crowds of firework onlookers and risk fines, imprisonment, drone damages or causing injuries. Simply out of ignorance.

Flying a drone into fireworks is dangerous to say the least. In some cases its even illegal.

But the craziest thing about capturing drone firework footage is that…

You can actually do it!

There are many loopholes you can deploy to fly you and your drone to new heights.

Loophole # 1

The first loophole is that you can can fly your drone several feet away from the crowd during fireworks. Don’t get too discouraged, if you have a good quality drone camera you can always zoom in on the fireworks.

There’s always a chance someone will set off fire crackers directly under your expensive drone. Then you can caputure the last split frame seconds before you have to retrieve your video card from the wreck. You won’t be at fault and you’ll get footage from the firework show and your own drones destruction.

Loophole # 2

If you connect with a professional pyrotechnician of a fireworks show you can likely fly your drone directly over the displays and guns of the fire crackers. If your drones stabilizers can withstand up to 12 mph winds you can film some amazing footage.

Don’t worry, he won’t care about your drone anymore then you do and the show will definately go on. So make sure you have some spare drones...you might need them.

Loophole #3

The next loophole is that you can ask the FAA for an exemption or waiver to fly at night.

Oh, you didn’t know you’re not supposed to fly your drone at night? Now you do! Haha!

All these rules and laws are enough to make you want to rethink flying a drone, but there’s more loopholes, just wait!

Loophole #4

The next but not the least loophole is that if your drone weighs less than 0.55 lbs you don’t need to register your drone.

Loophole #5

Which brings me to my next loophole, there’s always more loopholes. If you’re flying for fun you don’t actually need a pilot certificate.

Yes!

A freaking license!

To fly your UVA Mr./Ms. Pilot.

So if you still want to have some fun and capture some amazing drone firework footage check out the DJI Inspire 2 used by drone enthusiast who often successfully film drone fireworks from thousands of feet away.
