RE: Drugs - My Experience with 'Speed'
I've never tried speed, or much else really. It's partly down to fear of the consequences. Those public information films at school had an effect. I think people are free to do what they want, but most drugs have some consequences. You got off lightly with this. I'm sure there are many reasons why people take drugs. Of course alcohol is the main one and tobacco is less accepted than it was.
You have to have been in a position of taking such a substance really to form an opinion.
The school films will have said 'everything is bad', and it is, especially Alcohol and Tobacco, yet these are 'allowed' and deemed acceptable.
Despite the problems I have inherited from taking Speed, I don't regret it at all. The laughs and chuckles we had are etched into my memory and will be there forever.
I could have overdosed, is that what you mean by this?
The consequences are in 'the downer' section, but there are consequences by drinking too much beer too. If you think this one is bad, wait for the next article I will be writing :)
I mean you didn't have any serious lasting consequences, but you suggest that's not likely with speed anyway. But a kidney stone and heartburn are still not nice to have. I've known people who take their share of various drugs and they mostly seem okay, but I've met others who got messed up by it. I just lost a friend whose life may have been cut short by previous heavy drinking. Alcohol probably causes more issues than all the illegal drugs put together. Too much of anything can be bad, but I'm not going to judge people.
The stone was very bad, and I'm quite sure Speed was the perpetrator. @trolleydave has had health issues too, but I'm unsure whether its related to our 90's experiments.
The heartburn was brought on prematurely I think, as it is hereditary is my family.. so yes.. there were consequences for sure.
Alcohol is a particularly nasty drug which most of us use in varying degrees, and it does have addictive qualities of the physical type.
I myself long for a beer every weekend, and have to suppress the feelings sometimes. I know what it is, but its controllable.
