Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 171 Part 1 (Podcast Version)
This is a podcast version of a video from Day 171 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and sixty-three days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods. 'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. It has been quite the journey so far. @jacobpeacock

In this video I talk about doing a bunch of more 'domestic' duties this day.
I talk about cleaning out all my rain collection buckets with bleach because they had a lot of algae and mosquito larvae in them.
I talk about trying a three bucket system for washing my laundry in as opposed to the two bucket system I had been previously using.
I show where I transplanted my largest black locust sapling into a five gallon bucket after poking a few holes around the base of the bucket.
I show a few other small black locust sprigs that are growing from root cuttings and talk about how they are doing.
I talk about about all the black locust seeds that I planted and how none of them are growing.
I talk about being up really late at night because people nearby kept shooting guns and setting off fireworks which kept my dogs in a state of heightened anxiety and I had to keep soothing them.
I show some black locust saplings that I have in some pots hanging on the shack and talk about maybe planting them in five buckets as well.
As always this is just a summary of the video's content and not meant to explain everything that I cover in the video.
