Hi friends,
Recently I came to listened to many cool soundtracks, covers and mixes on @dsound, an idea clicked to me why not share most exclusive, magical and fantastic folktales which we have listened, heard or read in our regions or country.
What are folktales
Folktales are stories passed down through generations, mainly by oral storytelling. Folktales are of very wide they may be fairy tales (or fairy tales), tall tales, trickster tales, myths, rebel, humor and legends. Folk tales gives us insight into our past in very plain language with punch of fantasy, every story- teller who tell folk add or removes plot or character depending on how he perceives world.
In India, Grandmother (grandparents) are major folk tellers who pass their stories to us.
I am sharing two folktales very famous in their respective states one is in translated in English Language and other one is in Hindi
Tale in English Language,
- A story and a song : This oral tale was collected and retold by A.K. Ramanujan, an Indian scholar, hails from Karnataka state of South India.
This is a fantastic tale about rebellion of a story and a song against housewife, who is the not ready to share them with anybody else.
Tale in Hindi Language,
- Baniya Ka chakkar ( Servant of Greedy Merchant) : This tale was retold by Vijaydan Detha, a, eminent folklorist from India.
This is very short black humor satire tale about exploitation of an servant or slave by an merchant.
I am sharing translated text of Hindi story in English: (Translation was done my me):
The crusher's bull and merchants slave looks good only while working.
It is on a fine rainy day in patio of merchants house his slave was standing by his side. Merchant was anxious that rain is not even is stopping and this fool is standing by my side doing nothing. When rain is falling master has no work to do, it does not mean slave can relax.
He felt an a deep urge to make his slave to do something, at that moment merchant saw hand-mill of stone lying in patio in rain.
Suddenly merchant got in mind a work for slave, He said " Why are standing like a donkey looking at rain falling, can't you see that poor stone mill is getting wet in rain, go and get it inside. Fool has no feelings for others"
Will soon come with fantastic more folk tales|
