IMOOC INTRODUCTION : Indonesian Massive Open Online Course 2017 - Technology for Autonomous Learning
On March 2017, I was invited by my lecturer to join a digital class namely IMOOC. IMOOC is Indonesian Massive Open Online Course. IMOOC is initiated by RELO. The U.S. Embassy's Regional English Language Office (RELO) worked with fifteen Indonesian university professors from around Indonesia to develop this course, the first Indonesian-developed IMOOC created solely for Indonesian participants.
Of course, I really enthusiast and interested in this course. As a teacher, I must understand the use of technology for learning. This course aims at promoting Autonomous Learning Model (ALM) by using technology. During this program I have learnt a lot about how I bring technology into my classroom and how to make my students get involved in. Also, we had learnt for two months by using digital tool; this means that we did not learn in classroom. During the program we learnt and communicated via Canvas E-Learning platform, created suitable materials for autonomous learning, and worked together as in teams to ensure that participants of the program receive the best instruction possible.
In the first module of the program the instructor commanded us to create a video about ourselves. I created a video that is helped by my friend @zoelyaniss as the cameraman. Today, I try to upload the video on @dtube. Here you can watch my video
Modules of IMOOC Course
During 2 months of this course, I had to finish four modules including reading materials, mini-projects, tasks, quizzes and assignments.
Module One: Introductions and Autonomous Learning
The first module aims to help the participant to comprehensively understanding about Autonomous Learning Model (ALM) and how digital technologies used in their teaching. At the end of this, the participants are hope to be understood ALM as the learning approach and the use of some webtools in learning English for students.Module Two: Digital Literacy
The second module aims to learn the digital literacy skills, as the 21st century skills in learning and teaching. The participants are acquired to be critical and analytical on the use of internet and technologies in the classroom, critical on evaluating websources and contents for language learning, critical on determining relevant contents and digital tools (such as Canva, Rubistar, Padlet ) used for language learning.Module Three: Mobile Devices for Autonomous Teaching and Learning
The third module aims to provide the comprehensive overview of the use mobile device for learning and teaching language, which include the use of mobil devices, the ideas of using and selecting mobile apps for learning and teaching language, and developing learning activities within mobile apps.Module Four: Promoting Autonomous Learning Using Videos
The fourth module aims to integrate the video creation in classroom for promoting ALM. The activities help the participants to develop story boards, to create the video based on storyboards created and to design lesson plans within the video creation. At the end of this module the participants are acquired to be able to create storyboard and create a video base on storyboard in language learning and teaching.
