RE: The Steem Sister Show - Episode 119 // Porn (Part Two)

Wow, I am really proud of you for tackling this topic. It's a big one that affects all people, I imagine. Maybe us men especially. Definitely a sensitive subject to me. Personally, I have a belief that pornography can be very numbing to people's minds and moral values. Just a step in that direction can be destructive, I feel, as it seems to open a doorway to useless energy exertion and exhaustion. Worse, though, I wonder about the safety of those women (especially the young ones) who put their bodies on display in an objectifying (de-valuing) kind of way. I remember being 18 and very naive about my self-worth, and self-awareness, and... numb. I just want people to be safe, strong, happy, living well.

I remember when my daughter arrived, and my protective instincts showed up in a big way. She is a precious baby girl, and as her dad I see sacredness in her entire self: body, heart, mind, soul, and spirit. I do my best to help her to always value herself highly in that way. I try to set a good example for her and our my sons too, by treating each other's underwear regions as "private," because I feel this helps them to safeguard themselves. I also do my best to treat their mom with respect in every way, because I believe my example will create a certain pattern in the kids–ideally they will respect themselves and also find companions who treat them respectfully.

BTW, it's my first time visiting Steemit in nine months, and I'm excited to see the progress each of you have made. Way to go! Hope life is treating you well.

Thank you so much for checking out our show and leaving such a thoughtful remark. I 100% agree with you that porn can be very numbing of the mind and the senses. That's actually the main reason why I consume only occasionally. You bring up tons of great points about how to approach this topic when it comes to raising kids too.

It's great to see you back here on Steem! It was awesome to see your name pop up again! We used to always run into each other in Open Mic... but I hardly do that anymore anyway. I don't know why... I should really make more time for music! Anyway, i hope you are doing well and thanks again for stopping by our show!
