1st video of Hero and Lisa! (Explanation in the video description!)
November 11, 2019 9am - Hero and Lisa! Our two new family members. Hero gets around just fine! The kittens absolutely love the cat tree. PS: After doing this video, I decided to put rubber door stops under the legs of the rocking chair, so now it's not rocking anymore. I was worried they could get their tails or paws hurt while playing.
STORY:
These sweeties are almost 6 months old now and we adopted them from a local cat rescue. Hero and Lisa were found almost dead, out all by themselves, after someone just set them out and abandoned them. Hero was found with a severely injured right back leg, that had to be amputated right away. He must have been like he was for days, and I can't even imagine the pain he must have endured. They survived on the rubbish of a construction site. The first available Vet that Hero was brought to by the rescue, wanted to put him down right away, but there was no way that sweet rescue Lady would have let that happen, because she wanted them saved and so they were. The kittens were nursed back to full health thanks to lovely people fostering them. The next challenge for them was to find a forever home, but nobody wanted a kitty with only 3 legs. Lisa would have maybe found a home at some point, but Hero would have been left behind, which would have been heartbreaking, as the two siblings are very close.
THE ADOPTION
So then I heard about them on Saturday, November 2, 2019 and I knew right away, I wanted to give them a loving home with us, forever. So the rescue Lady Helga and I sorted everything out. First there was a visit, the next day, to get to know us and see for herself if we would be able to provide a good home for them. And thankfully, Helga agreed! On Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 6pm, Helga brought Hero and Lisa to us.
They were very shy when they arrived and it will still take time for them to gain more trust in us. They are very afraid of humans in general. But after only 24 hours with us, they had already lost their frightened expressions and became more and more curious about their new home. During the 2nd night, they were running around already, playing ALL night lol. We are also able to play with them and every day they are coming closer and closer to us. They don't run away anymore if you just walk past them now. They are playing a lot, eating a lot, sleeping a lot too of course and they're getting more confident every day. The previous night, Hero even jumped on the bed with me and Sonic and just hung out. Lisa jumped up too for a moment and then down again. Progress every day!
HOW OUR OLDER CATS ARE REACTING
Sonic made friends with Hero right away and they are so sweet together. Sonic wants to make friends with Lisa too, but she's still too worried. Though, it will only be a matter of a few days before she too wants to play with Sonic. Murli is totally relaxed and not upset by the new arrivals. Samantha is the one who will take the longest for everything to become normal. She's not really too upset, but she's got a "WHAT IS GOING ON?" look on her face at the moment. Though, she is very curious about them. They're all getting along, no fights. No one is distressed or upset. Which is awesome.
