Bringing eastern-western music instruments together

in #dtube6 years ago

Happy Sunday Steemians,

I would like to share a music video from a concert of mine.

This piece is written by a Romanian prince, Dimitrie Cantemir, who lived in Istanbul (then Constantinople) in the early 18th century. He was an European composer living in Ottoman Empire and composing in Ottoman music style.

That's why I though it would be a wonderful idea to perform his music with a mix of instruments from Eastern and Western traditions, since his music carries multi-cultural influences.

The instruments featured here are;
-violin, an instrument shared in both cultures
-harpsichord, western music instrument used highly in Renaissance and Baroque music
-yaylı tanbur, traditional Turkish bowed string instrument

I hope you enjoy!

Love the sound you got from all those instruments coming together. Welcome to Steem! @cetu could you possibly add a link to your Steem page to the about section on YouTube? It is just a good way to confirm it is really you. We have quite a few people who come around pretending to be someone they are not and just start posting other people's work. It would make it easier to get support here if people know it is really you.

Look forward to seeing more posts from you.
