Live conversation with the International Space Station Astronauts from the United Nations headquarters

in #dtube7 years ago

This week I have been at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Austria to attend the UNISPACE+50 conference and a high-level forum of world leaders preparing negotiation for the Committee on the Peaceful Use of Outer Space (COPUOS). During these days, the heads of all the world's space agencies, and representatives of all member nations of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), together with a high number of distinguished guests, have been gathered both to celebrate 50 years of United Nation's collaboration in space and also to continue the committee's work.

The International Space Station is often referred to as the peak example of international collaboration to achieve what no nation can do on their own, while also serving as a symbol of peace as American and Russian astronauts have continued to work together also during times of conflict on Earth. As such, it was appropriate to have the current ISS crew tune in live to the conference to add their thoughts and take some questions from the delegates. The Conversation was done with NASA Chief Scientist Jim Green and the Director of UNOOSA Simonetta Di Pippo.

I filmed the event and hope some of you might enjoy seeing it too! As those who watch the whole video will notice, the Steem and @steemSTEM logo was also in the room ;)

Lol had to wait until the last second to get steemstem in there. Honestly I'm disappointed the astronauts weren't holding up a steemSTEM sign =P

Haha! European Astronaut Paolo Nespoli (who I did a post about here when he visited our hq earlier this year) brought back a United Nations banner of the Sustainable Development Goals which he flew on the ISS.

I'll make it a goal to get a position of power where I can decide to have a steemSTEM banner;). Fpr now, I'll keep bringing my laptop to cool places!

The quality of the communications feed to the ISS is amazing....also within the Q&A - it's curious humans still have issues with holding audio microphones - they are still complicated things even for space astronauts!!
Thanks for sharing - that is pretty unique content!! Best Wishes

It's amazing to see that The Soviet Union & The US can still work together in space . All this is taking place despite the conflicts here on Earth

You're so right!

All is doing for to secure the earth

this is amazing

Very interesting a unique content of this post thanks and congratulations with the technology the communication is at a high level greetings friend

i think nasa should start working on the development of human dna(for increase in strenght of human against diseases ) instead of showing fucking space stations
