Hiking the Austrian alps - Schesaplana, Mannheimer Hütte and the Lünarsee - 3 days in 2017

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

Hi there steem pals! I recently did a post that included this video, but am now uploading to dtube!

Our trail lead us from the town of Brand through an initial easy section of the hike, by the time we set off after the lunch, the going really got tough. The weather then caught up to us halfway to the hut that we needed to reach for the end of the first day and might I go as far to say that the second half of day 1 was the single hardest day of hiking I have ever done! What with the traversing of via ferrata sections with no ropes and steep inclines that we had to get through added to the fact that we were racing the weather to get to our hut on the first night.

But oh was it all worth it. Day 2 was much more tame and mellow compared to day 1, but ending at the spectacular Lunar Lake for a swim and the all you can eat buffet that followed at the last hut was, shall we say, AWESOME IN EVERY WAY!! It wasnt as cold as you would expect for an alpine lake, give it a go!

Enjoy the video guys. I sure enjoyed shooting it and making it!

Footage shot on - GoPro Hero 4, iPhone 6S and DJI Mavic Pro.

Stunning view mate!! And what a cute house xD

Thanks mate! It was a great place to rest, hard to believe 127 people fit in that place huh? hahaha

In that thing?? things have to get really intimate between those 127 I suppose haha
Cheers mate!

its interesting, the White Mountains in New Hampshire are kind of similar and they provide "Huts" for visitors/hikers. The structures look similar. I didnt know about the ones in the alps til i saw this post

This type of enviromental tourism is actually my favourite type of tourism and I think in a few years, with overpopulation it will be the most demanded type (peaople will want more peaceful places). I actually go every summer to a place in the inetrior of Portugal called Gerês, and it is the most wonderful thing! Really recommend it and I'll probably do a post on it!
btw, thanks for the 1,50 likes mate!! Means a lot for a noob like me 😄
Cheers

There is something magical about the Alps! I was in Davos for a week a few years ago - and I've never felt so alive! Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely, i think it has something to do with how small and insignificant that they make you feel. Something so majestic and grand, and it never wanted to be that way, it just became what it became. There is some sort of life story in that...I am sure there is! haha thanks for the comment!

I wonder if you had a mountain bike. It would have been so much fun.

oh dude, mountain biking here would be amazing! there were trails everywhere.

Talk about a workout! Looks amazing there. Have fun!

Oh wow what an amazing view. I love the drone footages, that's going to be my next investment, just makes travel videos such much more incredible!

Great editing and trip.
