Dark Deception | I Did The Big Goof
Hey there,
Dark Deception is a story driven first-person horror action maze game, created from a collaborative indie effort between DD's original creator (Glowstick Entertainment) and the creator of TJOC: Story Mode.
The Objective?
Acquire a ring of power to get a wish. Or at least that's what I have been told.
The Caveat?
You have to survive a set of challenges that are all horrific in some way; starting of course with a maze of murderous monkeys who are all itching to eat your ass alive.
There's also the fact that you have to contend with Bierce; a sultry maiden of darkness with a murderous fetish.
Review
The game is scary... at first. It's only when you start collecting the soul shards in the maze that things start to become problematic. The monkeys themselves only provide cheap jump scares. If you're playing for the first time, you will be scared (no doubt about it). But if you died several times already, then the jump scares become less effective overall. Tl;dr, I have mixed feelings about it.
It is also bear mentioning that the developer has released several chapters (which you have to pay $$$, of course), so I would personally withhold judgement until I beat the entire game.
