Hi There SteemVerse Friends,

It's been long time coming, and I have finally done another AuthorReading.I had grand ideas of how I wanted to do my Author Reading. I wanted to in fact invest in footage that would compliment the stories but those came with a price. Then when I worked on my 60 Seconds of Steem Challenge, I realized my laptop wasn't equipped for heavy editing either. It lagged terribly.

So it was time to come back to earth. And do what I can for now until Steem Hits The Moon :D.

He cursed under his breath. She had become the bane of his existence. Everyday, every hour, all she ever did was taunt him. Dangling what was left of his pride, daring him. And yet, he stood his ground. The unspoken hate between them, was so palpable but neither would give the other the satisfaction of dissolution.

Maybe it was the money she was born into. Maybe it was his desperation and his need for it. More likely the combination which forced him to accept the trade in silence. Swallowing the words that rattled his head, knowing on the other side of his shame, was freedom. But freedom that came with a price of failure paid with poverty.

Once upon a time he was ambitious. He was convinced that he could weather anything as long as he got to work on a proposition he had for the future of the planet. An invention that would revolutionise people's communication. A tool that would transcend perceptions and opinions, leaving ego out of the equation. To eradicate suspicion and promote peace within and without.

Over time, the hours he spent in his suite, with interruptions from the She Beast as he had come to call her, first in a teasing way and then in a silent protest of how he had become her servant. She, his tyrant, pushing him over the edge, reminding him of his limitations and his defeat. Every day, melting into the next, just like Groundhog day. Trapped in a vile day, a vile life unable to escape. Just s slave to her wishes so he could fulfil his hopes and dreams that she trashed with her cruel words. Thoughts and ideas just out of reach, feeding off his ego as it crumbled into ashes, eating him from inside, swallowing the man he was and regurgitating mangled arrogance.

Life seemed to have a funny way of twisting your desires, manifesting into nightmares that you didn't even know existed. Sometimes he wondered if ego, was an entity by itself, feeding off the foolish and he the biggest fool of them all! Did he think he could eliminate the basics that was ingrained for survival? That it was within his prerogative to take care of? Did he think he could really sever what he now knows is the very essence of man.
