Trump is too scattered and too much of a salesman to engage in such an interview without running into serious trouble. My bet is that the interview will not be under oath, at the very least. Still, making false statements (even if not under oath) is still a crime. Trump has problems, to be sure.
I can’t imagine that Mueller would tolerate an interview that wasn’t under oath.
It's all part of a negotiation. If he makes false statements to a prosecutor while not under oath, it's still a crime. Mueller can cave on the questions being under oath and still get what he wants--true information that will assist him in his investigation or false information that is furtherance of a coverup and which is still prosecutable.
