Making Fortunes by abusing steemit through dtube.video

in #dtube7 years ago

Hello Everyone,

Most of us has already heared and checked dtube.video out already..

it's amazing platform and a very important addition to steemit,

but did you know that some people are abusing this platform? and i don't mean abusing by posting adult contents and porn videos, No!.

i have come across one account which is posting copyrighted full movies.

this is the account,
https://dtube.video/c/chainflix

and here is a screenshot of the account homepage:

the account is new created in august, and now at reputation 55, can you believe that?

i don't think it's fair by anyhow to see some one making around 400$ in the first day just by uploading some copy righted videos, which take no effort for someone who know how to use torrent and have a sufficient internet speed.

this a screenshot of how much one movie was uploaded today made:

i don't like this, but if it's okay with steemit community and the founders of steemit @dan & @ned i might make another account under a fake name, and take advantage of this as well... since there is a lot of money up there in this case..

Reading the comments made me crazy:

please resteem and upvote this post and let the word spread..

i am actually afraid to be downvoted by the owner of the abusing account since he have a real high reputation comparing to mine, which i worked hard for a month to get it.

Sort:

Blatantly using someone else' content to promote yourself/brand is bad enough. But to additionally make money from their content is truly reprehensible. If they had ANY integrity, they would at least peel off some back to the original creators and credit the source.
I would hope that any of you reading this will "take the high road". There is more than enough money to go around for providing good value and honest work.

I have actually taken upon myself to post in there comments to remind them that what they are doing is copyright infringement and its harming our community. This will take some serious action. I believe if we act now while its still in infancy we can stop these guys from uploading copyright material. They eventually will get the picture. We must be decisive and get the big guns involved its no use they all talk about it and do nothing simple truth if we love this community you'll protect this community @rogerblu

We must act:
@malekalmsaddi
@ammonite
@welovesteemit
@doctorcrypto
@birdperson
@jerrybandfield
@good-karma
@stellabelle

glad to know that majority of people in steemit knows what's good for them.

is it possible that Disney might send in a few whales to monitor their content on dtube?

Ok... it's not fair to get popular vids on internet and publish to make money but it's a clever way to have a good account. Remember, if all of us are clever and honest there will not be any rich man between us.

So is there a solution? It seems like this is going to be an inherent part of this platform, which is unfortunate because as you said, once someone starts making money from piracy the US government will come down strong. I feel like the only solution would be to have the community agree that we should not be watching or voting for these videos that are blatantly copy right material. Any other solution would probably compromise the integrity of steem.

tbh the only integrity steem and dtube need is to remain de-centralized and open-source. Everything else we the users should sort out with our votes and content

Thanks for bringing this to light, @malekalmsaddi. I'm a filmmaker and under the opinion that as a community we should take copyright and intellectual property more seriously.

it means you are one of the people who would be effected the most by such actions,
i wrote this article, because i don't like see people making money through breaking the law being leveraged then others just by risking them self going to jail.. if they don't care about that,, others do.
and the other people deserves fair competitors, after all voting power is limited, and if someone post millions of dollars worth stuff with less effort, the average solo content creator wont stand a chance.
and also such actions endangers the existence of steemit.. which is an amazing platform and it would be unfortunate to loose it.

That's one way to bring the law into your decentralized world.
illegal is illegal.

Upload your own. Upvotes will go to whoever gets the best stuff the soonest.

My concerns is not the upvotes, but it's the sustainability of steemit
If the law is being breaked here... heavy army will conquer it soon

aren't we about decentralization? fuck the law. he's right on the upvotes. You can downvote and try to persuade others. Are you asking for some 'authority' to come in and ban or de-monetize this guy? The free market will sort it out, and you are a part of that market :)

And all i did is that I exposed this guy to free market, and i can do that since it's free
And it actually did the works and the account income went down to 0 and it's dead

Calm down my friend, I understand decentralization and happy with it, in fact my only concern is that if some authority put all efforts to ban demonetized platforms like dtube, but that's makes it ethical for users who care about the existence of such platforms to take a stand
Don't forget that he have no right to earn using other people copyrighted material, which costed them fortunes to make.. no matter how rich they are or how much you envy them

Im curious as to how the law could even come into this? What is option for them in the first place? This army ect. Im curious as of what could be worst case ?

The average uploader cannot produce videos to a higher standard than multi million dollar studios.

exactly, which is why an average uploader should not use videos made by multi million dollars studios.. because it costed them multi million dollars to make it..

this kind of behavior may put steemit under law enforcement radar.

anrky keep up and make a popcorn time steemit thingy. i support chainflix, we have made a blockcain steem and now pepol vant to sett restrictions,fuck the laws we make the rules here,wales dont get corporations pleas fellow steemians,anonymus and all wistle blovers,
using others content helps promote,like reesrem ,curation.maybee the makers make steemit and earn on tis.im a anrkist and a emotional uff ematy cant see killing tv movies make me feel it... love to all

You are missing the point here,,,
it's morally wrong, the people who created this content has invested money making them,
now when someone see's copyrighted material here,, the original creator actually lose money he deserves..
and if as you said they posted their contents here,, how much would they earn for exposing their materials?
$2,000?
we are talking about hundreds of millions worth contents, and they wont post it here, it's immoral action to publish copyrighted material that you don't own..
put your self in the position of the rightful owners..

Im not siding with kim's comment, in all respect the people who should be getting every dollar for view. Were in the green by millions back at the box office. I see a opportunity with detube and other platforms to allow others to view the movies with being raped in price.
For one there are many out in this world who have internet access but no funds to spend. Kids and adults alike, a computer but no money for content. Thats where some one in some crap town in india can watch some big name movie for just the price of electricity. If more movies where made directly on Dtube only or something then you could better protect the owners. I do not believe it fair by anymeans to use those movies as way to boost rep ect, yet im not against having them on this platform with very little to none going to directors and USA GOV.
I think personally if your director and you personally believe this issue would effect your profitability to a point you deem unacceptable you would take actions to make your video safe. Other wise let everyone see it and take money from the people in box office, netflix and Hulu ect.

As a community this has to be stopped. There are obviously lots of people here on Steemit who don't see it as a problem. I can see it happening that people will start downloading successful videos after their 7 day payout and reuploading them to leach rewards. Say for instance if all of Jerry Banfields videos were getting live payouts all the time. The site would become a big drain on steem.

I agree, however I noticed that the account I've mentioned in my post was down voted by big whales.. and most of it's videos are hidden now on steemit.. not tom mentioned it's reputation was downed to -14
That thing has actually made me happy
That steemit whales actually knows that they have to care about the safety of steemit

Oh wow that's so interesting, I didn't realize steem power worked in the opposite direction as well. So does this mean all of us minnows will have to rely on the whales to protect us?

Exactly.. that's how it works in here

That is good news. Thank you Whales for taking action.

Earnings seems pretty good, Im gonna try dtube soon ; of course with my own content lol

you should... i find dtube is a the best place to make money for people who are creative enough to make good videos..
diffidently better then youtube on the short term.
