[DTube] What are Geometric Sequences?
I'm in the process of uploading all of my Youtube videos to DTube, where they can be recorded on the Steem blockchain.
In this video, I introduce the concept of geometric sequences.
Let's take for example the sequence of numbers: {2, 6, 18, 54, 162, 486, ... }
Notice that the numbers after 2 can be express as follows:
t1: 2 x 3 = 6
t2: 2 x 3 x 3 = 18
t3: 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 54
t4: 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 162
t5: 2 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 486
Thus the nth term of the sequence can be determined by the formula tn = arn-1 where a is called the scale factor and r is called the common ratio.
