Do know the feeling when you see a profile and you're shocked by the amount of his or her followers?
Are you sometimes jealous? Are you dreaming what kind of feeling it would be when you have such an influence?

Is that not something we all want? Let's be serious.
In this video, I will share my opinion about this.

Highly recommend for beginners.

People tend to get fixated on things like followers and be jealous of other people. I think with time and a lot of work from the community steemit will start to change that mentality into that of helping others.

You mention a crucial point, my friend!
It's about the mentality, exactly that.

People usualy think, not in this particullar topic, if they have a big number of audience they will earn and gain lot of trust and confidence. The thing is that even thought we have large audience we may have small rewards, things may happen the other way, having small audience but with power will earn a lot.

Exactly. And also in time, you will see that a large following of a person does not result in engagement.

Honestly, that is correcy

when i joined steemit i was told that you need followers to make it here but as time went by i realized its a race for futility , they dont add much so i change tact and concentrated on writing great articles

I totally agree with you @modernpastor, it is just a number! It is also the same as focusing on fame but not delivering quality output.

Thank you for sharing this @modernpastor! :)

Like always I agree with you :)

Great points man. This is so tough for newer Steemians to come and board and get jealous and scream why can't I have thousands of followers. Put in the work. Grind! Hustle. Add value to others....And actually take part in the discussions. The followers will come. I'm only about 190 followers in, but I know this is a multiple-year process for me....So I'll see how I'm doing in 2-3 years from now :)

Add value daily, that'll take care of the follower issue.

Awesome comment my friend. And true. It's a real desire and more present in newcomers. As you said how would look in 2-3 years when you go your way and provide valuable things for this community? Excellent long-term perspective my friend.

Appreciate that. Yeah man, gotta think long term for things like this. And this may sound corny but the real wealth in places like Steemit are the people you meet and the experiences you gain. Followers and upvotes, are a bonus. Come for the right reasons, people will do fine in 2-3 years.

I totally agree with you on that :)

@modernpastor amazing post! Jealousy is the one of the worst enemys who can distract you from your path! I am not saying that i haven’t felt it but in time i managed to surpress it and overcome it! Thank you for sharing experience and explaining everything so accurate. I cannot agree more with you!

Thanks for your great comment :)
I can also agree with you. Jealousy is taking our energy. This energy would be a better use for something else, something useful you could create. It's part of the human nature. But the worst thing is when you allow this feeling to guide you.

Am a newbiee here but, Steemit is all about hard work by dedicating your time, posting, commenting and upvoting and again study how the community works. I bet you it pays
@follykay

Welcome here to Steemi, my friend :)
It's great to see that already, in the beginning, you have this kind of mindset. This will bring you far.

I want to appreciate your selfless lesson you shared particularly for the beginers. I have learnt a lot. God bless you. I upvote you.

Thanks for your kind words. I am glad when people can actually get something out of it.
God bless you too my friend :)

You're absolutely right, I think a lot of people here on Steemit follow people just in the hope that they will follow them back. My account now has over 1100 followers but most have never actually engaged with me.

Hey captain :)
Yes, I observed also with my followers.

i am not at all worried abut that number to me the activity really matters that number will go up and down and may be zero but friends stay forever

Exactly! The activity, the engagement is much more important than the pure number.

Wise words - In the end, beginners just have to remember one saying:

Quality > Quantity

This goes for followers as well as for posts, comments and upvotes!

Greets ;)

yes quantity get quality
