In with DTube and out with FailTube (YouTube)
So YouTube is in the news again and it isn't good. If you were thinking about starting up a YouTube channel to pursue a dream you had of being a content creator, you are looking in the wrong place.
What have they done?
YouTube today announced their plan to restrict benefits to newcomers even more than they currently have. Now, if you want to start your YouTube channel and start earning money from the hard work that you put in, good luck. You will now need to have at least 4000 hours of view time within a twelve month period and have at least 1000 subscribers. This along with YouTube's algorithm run platform promotes a space that is unwelcoming to a large range of people. What YouTube is known for lately is their demonetisation of content and plain censorship of quality content. Welcome to a world governed by a greedy corporation rather than by the people.
Where else can you go?
Well while there are a lot of content creators flooding to twitch.tv there is one place which is still in its infancy. A place where you can make a name for yourself, gain followers and be rewarded (from the beginning) for the quality content that YOU create! I am of course, talking about DTube.
What is DTube?
DTube is a decentralised video sharing platform build off of the Steem blockchain. It is a place you can share your videos, whether it be talking about the latest news, crypto predictions or something as simple a video of your cat. DTube allows you to vote on videos you like exactly the same way that you would vote for a blog that you like on Steemit.
I recommend that everyone head over to DTube and have a look around. You may be surprised what you find. In fact, a lot of prominent Steemians will make a blog over here letting their followers know about the quality content that they have uploaded. There are a lot of tips on how to succeed on Steemit and some great crypto predictions. If you are wanting to get into the video scene, while YouTube is a bigger platform, you will be swallowed by the giant corporation which lives to have people flood to their site while not giving back to the people that brought the people there in the first place. With DTube you do not have to be afraid of sharing your opinion, instead you may be celebrated for being brave enough for standing up for what you believe in. I have looked around on DTube and from what I can see the community there is just as great as it is here.
