Morning Movements - A Yoga Flow Time Lapse | Vlog #8
Hey guys, how are we all today?
I'm feeling a little under the weather and can't find the motivation to sit in front of the camera. My initial reaction to this thought was that I should just do it, I mean stay committed to the dvlog! But in hindsight I know that it's the fastest way to burn myself out and I really don't want to be pushing myself forward just because I think I have too. I want to stay true to creating and providing content that was fueled by inspiration and motivation and not based around a need.
I truly love being apart of the dtube daily community but I am having to learn balance and boundaries with where I put my time and energy. Unfortunately I haven't made it big enough to quit my day job just yet. 😂 I also know that taking a step away or just giving a bit of space can allow you to still appreciate why these things remain to be your passion.
I want Steemit and Dtube to be apart of my creative expression and a place I enjoy coming to because it evokes inspiration and a chance to connect, not a place where I am focused on numbers or unrealistic expectations. I don't want my experience here to become dampened.
With that, I decided instead to share with you an old yoga flow time lapse. (I'm counting this as a vlog but I kind of feel like maybe I'm cheating? 🤷🏻♀️) This was a few years ago when I still had pink hair and a huge space to practice. At the time I loved creating little videos like this. Yoga and movement not only create space in my body but also in my mind. Some days my practice feels like pouring paint over a blank canvas. There is no thought, just freedom in it's spontaneity and ability to flow.

I agree that balance and boundaries are important to avoid burnout. It's very important to know your limit especially when it comes to stuffs like vlogging. It's sort of become a habit to be consistent, but sometimes ideas and motivation are hard to come by. But glad you've pulled through and enjoyed yourself. I did some meditation during my post-grad study; it really help me to relax and destress.
I totally agree. I think the hardest part is that it's been something I have been enjoying a lot lately so I don't want to really break from it. But I know that I should, because too much of anything isn't good for you. I think repetitive habits can be the downfall of ideas and motivation. You gotta mix it up otherwise things get stagnant. And yeah, you can never go wrong with meditation. It really does wonders. 😌
That's soo cool haha
I really need to start doing some yoga! my flexibility went down really hard this year lol (ohh and also the mental benefits and all that :P )
Great time lapse!
Thanks! I can not recommend yoga enough. Usually most people start off just wanting to develop flexibility or learning to relax but then it just opens up a whole other world you weren't even expecting!
I see what you are saying, it's very similar to meditation in that sense!
People start meditating to develop relaxation and focus but those who stay constant with it open a whole new world of mental exploration!
I can totally see that happening in yoga while you are trying to observe the pain :)
Exactly that. Sometimes people aren't too great at sitting for meditation but you can practice meditation or mindfulness at least through anything that slows your thoughts down. Sometimes people experience that with sport, or creating art, or singing, or dancing or whatever really. I like to observe things very slowly in nature and it reflects the same as if I were to sit in meditation. It's all just about exploring and observing the mind and building a deeper relationship with self.
Exactly, you got that right. I have nothing to add, it's just great to have people with the same mindset to talk to! ♥
I agree! Before Steemit I was actually trying to figure out ways to connect with more like minded people. Sometimes I feel a bit disconnected from the people who are in my immediate environment because we share different ideals. I'm really grateful for this community. ☺️
I feel exactly the same, the people who are really close to me are having the same kind of mindset but most of the people I hang out with won't be too aware. In steemit, you are not limited to the places you go and the people you meet. Anyone can read your content or watch your videos and reach out to you if they liked your ideas :)
Awesome! If we ever meet up, teach me yoga basics plz
We can totally make this happen!
fo shizzle 🤘🏼
Hey @neeqi , kicking it with red hair. Small secret, once I had red hair, and some other colors, lol. but I would have wished that the video would not be fast forwards. maybe next time you can actually walk us through, with breathing and reps. Just like a normal exercise, and We the @dtubedaily family could follow your example! Anyhow love the healthy post you bring!
Haha we are the same! I've had so many different colours, red, pink, purple, orange, blonde, black, brown. I like to experiment with my appearance. And yeah, this is a timelapse so its not actually a video. It takes a photo every 2 seconds or so and if I slow it down more it looks really weird.
Is a yoga exercise video something you would like to see? Maybe I could do this. It's a bit nerve wrecking but dtube keeps teaching me to push my boundaries!
So PUSH those baundries away! We are here to support and some of us could even use it to practice - like ME! :P
Hey - is that your art back there?
And what's your cats name???
Unfortunately that isn't one of mine. It's actually a mural of me that two very good friends of mine did for my 21st birthday. And my kitties name is Simba. 😊
That’s some awesome art on the wall!
Awesome timelapse today, will you be making a regular ‘Morning moments’ series every week? I think it would be cool!
Also as I’ve seen from some others, I’m really interested in yoga! I should really give it a shot! I’ll be looking to you for tips, this looks like a pretty intense routine, but I guess it must work for body and mind so sign me up!
Its a piece two good friends did for me for my birthday.
I unfortunately don't have the adequate space to film something like this at home, but I did consider doing a series like it and just finding a location outside somewhere. I have a lot of old yoga videos that are sort of similar in style in all these different places I travelled to whilst I was in Central America.
And I would definitely recommend it! This is my routine after years of self practice. You can always start with something a lot more simple yet still very effective. 😊
That would be a great idea for a weekly segment from you! And if you have some old content, perfect for a day where you aren’t 100%! I’d love to see the various locations, that a part of the world I’ve never visited but have always been interested in!
This is true. So many things to develop on. Thanks for encouraging the idea! 💛
We have a new yoga teacher!!! Neeqi!!!!! Wooohoooo!!! How long did this session last?? Looks like quite long! Do you do this every day?
You can teach me this and I will teach you how to play the guitar :) Don't know if you can play any instrument :)
Winny out...for now ;)
I will take that trade!! I can sort of.. really badly play the ukulele haha. This session was probably 40 minutes. Sometimes I can get so stuck in it and easily practice for an hour or so. And not every day. I use to, I was very religious about it but now I like to explore all kinds of movement. Yoga, hiking, skipping, dancing. You gotta mix it up sometimes.
Oh then we definitely have to do a dance off! ;)
I am a very patient teacher. So, don't worry if you suck or if you are impatient. Just look at my crazy face and you will be back on track. Yeah, there's something special about my face :D It works wonders.
Winny out...for now ;)
Hahahaha, I think we will end up having face pulling competitions. Who can raise their eyebrow the highest!! The bad music will be long forgotten. 😂
hahahahahahaha, challenge accepted. So, neeqi, when we meet in real life we will do an eyebrows raise competition LOL
Winny out...for now ;)
PS: Whoever loses has to donate 1 SBD to the winner ;)
Hahahaaha challenge totally accepted!!
It's okay if you don't post every day a new video if you're not in the mood. There will be nobody helped if we force ourselves to do something we don't like. The content quality will suffer from this and what's most important you won't be happy with it and like you said you will feel burned out some day. We all need to take a rest from time to time. I would just wish I had something like you with yoga to turn off just for a few minutes. I often feel like I'm still being unter pressure even when doing nothing :(
@liveyourdream. Thank you for this, it is really something I have to remind myself. There is no video from me today because I'm feeling really unwell again. But I know I can still contribute by watching, commenting, upvoting and resteeming everyone's content. Breaks are important and you're right in saying that the quality will suffer and I want to ensure I am only providing my best and what I am passionate about.
You can always learn yoga if you are looking for something to help you unwind! Or even just meditation. 💛
Thanks for sharing and opening up about this. I'm sure a lot of dtube vloggers can relate to what you are saying right now. With the platform being so new and there seemings to be a lot of growth rn even I know I am guilty of feeling pressured to make something just to make something. But I think it is important (like you said) to remember why we got into vlogging to begin with, for expression and creativity. Your post made me reflect on something GaryVee always talks about (hopefully you know gary vee) which is patience and doing what you love. I hope one day you can focus 100% of your energy on steemit and creating and doing what you love. In the meantime, hope you stay happy and healthy. Thank you for sharing as always.

@elima 💗
I think its good just to be honest about where we are all at during this journey. That's one of the best things about the community, the authenticity behind what we create and present to each other. Unfortunately we don't have endless pools of energy and inspiration and you've gotta stay true to how you feel in the moment to keep equilibrium through it all. I've never heard about GaryVee (he's an entrepreneur though?) but I totally agree. Patience and knowing when to slow down is so valuable in progression and doing it for the love. If it's for any other reasons you'll struggle to keep going with it. Soon enough I will eventually have more freedom with Steemit, with the way things are moving I can already envision it. 😊
Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot.
Another cameo appearance by the cat haha. Nice one.
I can never be this supple or flexible. That's for sure haha.
You notice he's always gotta be close by, just a friendly reminder that he requires your attention. 😂
And you never know until you try! I couldn't take my toes to save my life when I started.
