Sitar, darbuka, tar and riq improvisation.

in #dtube6 years ago

Just jamming on my Hiren Roy sitar to a beat i remixed by Jim Dooley. The drum loops are composed using darbuka, tar and riq drums. Sitar was recorded via my zoom h6 with an additional direct line recording from dtar pickups i taped onto the sitar body.

I always love a great musical improv. It is nice to have some doing them on instruments other than the normal guitar or drums and the like. The sounds that come out of a sitar can be very interesting. Thanks for sharing your talents!

brutal, me gusta ! gracias por compartir este material :)

Thanks for listening

Very kewl improvisation! Great vibes and chilled journey! Nice work S&J! :)

The carpet is just awesome! And of course, your improvisation is great.

If you look closely there are elephants and other animals in the pattern.

Is it handmade?

Nah its just an amazon tapestry purchase, there's quite a few on there.

This is first time I knew about Hiren Roy sitar. It look so unique. the concept is it similar as playing guitar? The rhythm from Hiren Roy sitar is so lovely. And your finger move it so well, it seems like you and Hiren Roy sitar blended into one. How long you learn Hiren Roy sitar?

This sitar is from the 60s. Hiren roy was the builder who made george harrison's sitar from the beetles. I bought this one from an old school hippy in seattle. It is pretty close to the same as guitar except you mainly play one string and bend it alot. The other strings are drones.

It a cool music instrument @sketch.and.jam, in 60s musician already so innovative to invent such cool instrument. You learn it yourself?

Yeah i learned it myself though i have plenty left to learn compared to some of the greats like ravi shankar

this is amazing, You are very talented and I admire your style of improvisation. I've been looking for someone to improvise oriental music for a long time and I feel like you're the right person! I would love for us to collaborate on a couple of versions, do you know "Blast" by Marcus Miller? let's record an improvisation on that song, what do you think? 😄 I can play the bass, darbuka and drums.

I would also love to record wael kfoury songs or make original compositions.

Sounds like a good idea, might be easier to try something original first to test the waters. If you come up with a drum/bass line i can add in some tracks and see what happens.

Hellot there @sketch.and.jam!

True artist have ways to let the music out. You can always jam in anything your hands can hold. I love the beat.. i can groove to it too! Hehe

Cheers! ❤
