1.1 Content Curation, What is it?
So first the first thing I’m gonna talk about is this thing called Content Curation. Basically, what that means is that you share content that’s already been published by someone else. So for example, sharing a viral meme is one way of curating content.
And there are actually many big instagram accounts that use this method and there are many benefits of doing it especially if you have a small following and want to grow your instagram account fast.
So what are the benefits of content curation?
- It’s extremely simple and fast.
- You don’t have to create your own content which will save you a ton of time.
- You can figure out pretty quickly what type of pictures that are working, and with that I mean, which pictures that get the most likes and comments.
- When your account is getting bigger, and when you get around 10 000 followers, people will be reaching out to you and ask you to promote their pictures. And when you’ve reached up to 100 000 followers, you can easily charge for every picture you post.
- So you may ask yourself: are there any negative things about content curation?
- Yes, there are some negative things that you will have to consider before you start curating content and the first thing is that if you post other peoples pictures without crediting them, there’s always a risk that the original content creator finds out that you’re posting his or her pictures. I’ve never experienced this myself but they can report you to Instagram and eventually have your posts taken down.
- Also even if you do credit or tag the original content creator, there are some people that simply don’t want others to share their pictures. However, they will usually let you know if they don’t like what you’re doing and comment on the picture or send you a message that need to remove the post.
- So if you’re gonna use other peoples pictures, here are some guidelines:
- Always credit the original content creator. (I’ll show you exactly how to do it later in this video.)
- Never share a private picture of someone. People have integrity and usually don’t want their private pictures to be shared. So if you’re gonna curate content I would recommend that you don’t repost personal pictures. Here are some good examples of pictures that you can post:

1.2 How and where to find pictures?
- So where can I find pictures for my niche?
- First, let’s say you’re in the travel niche. You search for travel and then pick one of the big accounts. Then you just search through which pictures you like the most or which ones that get the most likes and engagement.
- After you’ve found one, you just screenshot the picture. On iphone, just hold the top or side button. Then click the home button.
- On android just press the power button and volume down simultaneosly.
- So after you’ve saved the picture, you just click the plus sign on instagram, choose the picture and click next.
Then, you decide what you wanna write in your caption and add ”Photo credit: @blablabla”
1.3 How often to post?
So how often should you post?
I recommend that if you’re gonna post other peoples content mixed in with your own content, a good schedule would be to post at least once or twice per day.
The more you post, the more often will your account get exposure.
Some big accounts even post up to 6-7 times per day.
But in the beginning I would probably go for 1 per day just to create a habit, and then scale it up when I’ve got some pictures up and know wh at kind of posts are doing well.
1.4 What should I caption?Instagram is all about engagement so you want to write things that incourage people to comment and like your pictures.
So let’s say I have this travel account. I post this picture. And then I can write ”TAG one friend that you would visit this place with!” emojis.
Or ”From 1-10, how beautiful is this?
Or ”Where is this place?”
And after you see that people are starting to comment, reply them and interact. You want to engage and connect with people.
1.1 Focus on what’s working
- So the last thing I want to talk about is that when you’ve posted around 10 or more posts, you need to review them and see which posts are getting the most likes and comments.
- Also take notes on what time you post your pictures. Sometimes it’s better to post in the morning, sometimes in the evening. The only way to figure it out is to experiment and post on various times and see what works best.
- Instagram has the most users online at sundays, so maybe try posting more on sundays? Just try different days and times and see what gives you the best results and scale it up after that.
- Also don’t be to quick to make conclusions. You would need to get in a pretty big sample size before you make any judgements. So in the beginning, just post regularly on evenings and after a month or so, review your posts and reschedule.
Alright everyone. That’s it for today. Make sure to check out the other techniques in this series. Also comment and let me know if you’re having any success with this strategy, or if you’re having any problems? Please subscribe for more videos like this. Take care!
