Yes, I definitely think it's used as a weapon, not only against women, but men as well.
Addiction to it can attack having a healthy sexual relationship. It may be seen as an extension of good sex for some, but I can't help but think one or the other is going to have feelings of inferiority. That can ruin good relationships.
