Religion is humanity answer to self-domestication!
after years of experience I would say that each religion must be judged by its originating environment.
And all the religons seem to have at least one aspect that defends against some negative results of self-domestication when they were first conceived. Some more then others!
But of course there are many examples of religion using human domestication to propagate. Some more then others :)

Spiritualism is a thing though for sure, higher consciousness exists.
