Why debating is important.

Live Stream Summary:

In this video I discuss a new debate tournament I am partaking in on Qallout. I think it is very important to be able to debate ideas so that we can break down these safe spaces and echo chambers that people are trapped in.

If you cannot rationally argue your position in a debate, then maybe you need to reconsider what your position is on a whatever the subject matter is. Truth should be able to stand up to questions and debate.

In fact if we had more debates then we would have a better society as the better ideas would win out.

I would agree with you @Titusfrost, that a spirited debate is necessary over many things in our society today. It's needed to fix societies ills! I enjoy it a lot!!!

Unfortunately... I've given up on trying to debate most people. They're so indoctrinated, and wrapped up in cognitive dissonance that a decent debate is almost impossible. If someone can effectively debate an issue, and teach me some facts that I'm not aware of, I can change my position. What most people do is ignore facts, resort to denigration and name calling. They'll turn to racial, nationalistic, or religious excuses on a dime.

Right from birth, they've had a tidy little box built for them, and they only feel comfortable inside of it. They refuse to venture outside.

Debate is like the Scientific Method. Everything is tested and requires proofs, then whether or not a resolution is true or false will come to light at the outcome. We need these to shatter many of our belief systems that are based or tradition, heresay, inaccurate information, or whatever.

Anyway, I'm signing in to Steemit again under my own name. (CanineTrackers are more interested in the world of animals. Nevertheless, they have the intellectual capacity to upvote or downvote, if you get my drift.)

Now, I'm subscribed to all these channels but I still have to find my way around them because scrounging for money eats up my time. But I'll get there. I don't want to miss the debates. 'Would be nice if I get notifications the way Yahoo and Facebook does. Like, in your face.

P.S.--I'm told my Private Posting Key is wrong. How can you go wrong with Copy and Paste? Heck, that's what programmers rely on.

Debating is the best way to examine the two sides of the coin and why one is better than the other one?
