Veganism And The New Age Movement (Why I am no longer vegan)

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

In this video I discuss a sensitive topic and one which will be close to many people's hearts. I am not telling people what to eat merely sharing my experiences and how I see veganism playing into a much larger agenda.

There are many arguments for and against both sides but with veganism being heavily promoted all over the place and more and more vegans coming out and saying they felt sick I felt it was time to share my own story and question whether or not veganism is sustainable long term.

@tonysayers33, It's good to share the experience because there should be space for the both sides. In my opinion, in a way in this era we are seeing one picture and that is people are breaking the Cycle Of Life in many ways and aspects. Stay blessed.

Exactly, we need to be able to discuss this maturely from both sides.

I started off to make a comment responding to this, but found far too many issues:

  • Statements that were purely false (veganism started in 2010?, "plants contain anti-nutrients" as though it was all plants, vitamin/fatty acid deficiencies, kids suffering from not getting growth hormones from their food?)
  • Lots of composition/division fallacy
  • It doesn't sound like you were using source material for much of this information (you keep saying things like then I heard, then I read, then so-and-so told me)
  • A whole lot of generalizations and "as a vegan" statements that are not true for many/most vegans...

So, I'll be making a full post in response to this. Thanks for the inspiration!

My response is up now, you can find it here: https://steempeak.com/@kennyskitchen/7bj409wvpqs

You're entitled to your opinion Kenny and its your free speech right to disagree

That's quite true, we are all entitled to our opinions. We are not, however, entitled to presentimg our opinions/beliefs/thoughts as though they were facts. I made it very clear both in the video and my write-up that the entire reason I responded was because you made dozens of factually incorrect statements, without anything to back them up, always preceded by things like "I've now learned," "what new age doctors aren't telling you," etc.

You framed your video as a story about your personal journey on a plant-based diet, but you offered extremely little information about your own experience, and a LOT of completely baseless claims.

If you were being honest, you would have left out all the "plants _____," "vegans _____," and simply said that you were on a plant-based diet, started having brain fog & memory issues, someon on YouTube said that veganism can cause those things, so you gave it up. Or, if you actually had tests run to find out what your body wasn't getting or couldn't absorb, you would have mentioned those things.

Whether intentional or not, you did a bait & switch, advertising one human's story and instead regurgitating a bunch of propaganda talking points.

You'll also notice that I neither downvoted your post, or removed the @TribeSteemUp vote from it... You're really all about open & honest conversation huh?

Oh that is a shame! Open dialogue is a must on this platform and no one should be downvoted for expressing viewpoints and engaging in discussion imo.

I guess you just want the attention?

Of course. My health had nothing to do with it at all.
