Dungeons 3 PC Review - World of Warcraft meets Dungeon Keeper
World of Warcraft meets Dungeon Keeper.
Dungeons 3 is mostly built around two maps - an underworld where you mine resources, build up a dungeon, and hire minions; and an overworld where you send your units to fight over map control and resources for research. It has a feel of an RTS being split into a fairly complex base-building game and another combat-oriented overworld game.
Pros -
Simple: It's easy to pick up and easy to get the hang of.
Well Written: This made me laugh so much the narrator sold everything for me and the main girl added some charm.
Long Story: If you are like me and take your time, trying everything out, building up big then the story is a good length and takes around 10 hours depending if you rush.
RTS: There is a great emphasis on having balance between building your base and your army and going on the attack to gain more resources which makes for a great real time strategy game.
Cons -
Controls: The overhanging hand that controls all of your minions can be a little clunky at times and is often off screen if you move too fast but it bearable to use.
Evilness: I felt the evil resource was a bit too little. I understand it's to add a bit of longevity to the game but a little more wouldn't of hurt.
Timed Missions: Personal complaint here I've always hated timed missions in RTS styled games cause i'm the type of person who likes to spend 2 hours building the nicest base before i start doing other stuff in the level or mission it's not a deal breaker by any means but i just never liked them too much.
Verdict
Overall Dungeons 3 is great fun, it has tons of humor (if a little cringe and eye-rolling at times). The controls are a bit weak and unintuitive, but not enough to detract from the experience.
