Happy Dusshera and Yom Kippur

Celebrated on September 30th this year in India.

The word Dussehra (Devanagari: दशहर) (Kannada: ದಸರಾ ಹಬ್ಬ) is a variant of Dashahara which a compound Sanskrit word composed of "dasham"(दशम) and "ahar" (अहर), respectively meaning "10" and "day" According to Monier Williams, Dus (दुश) meaning "bad, evil, sinful" and Hara (हर) means "removing, destroying", connoting "removing the bad, destroying the evil, sinfulness.... (wiki) a kind of atonement.

Interestingly ....

Yom Kippur also Sept 29/30 this year ... Yom Kippur (/jɔːm, joʊm, jɒm ˈkɪpər, kɪˈpʊər/;[2] Hebrew: יוֹם כִּיפּוּר‎, IPA: [ˈjom kiˈpuʁ], or יום הכיפורים‎), also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Yom Kippur is "the tenth day of [the] seventh month"[5] (Tishrei) and is regarded as the "Sabbath of Sabbaths". Rosh Hashanah (referred to in the Torah as Yom Teruah) is the first day of that month according to the Hebrew calendar. On this day forgiveness of sins is also asked of God.

Yom Kippur completes the annual period known in Judaism as the High Holy Days or Yamim Nora'im ("Days of Awe") that commences with Rosh Hashanah. (wiki)

I just learned this connection today.

Absolutely - as a catholic, and in the tradition of the great Catholic Mystic Meister Eckhart I am very interested in the ideas of Advaita Vedanta, the Oneness of God. The Immanence and existence of God everywhere in all things. I do believe that Jesus was a Great Mystic and understood and taught this concept and was able to say "I AM God" ... maybe he learned this from a great yogi from India ... as Jesus always said "My Yoga is easy and my work is Light"

That sure means a lot of things..

It sure does.

Hindu Non Dualism, Zen Buddhism, the Tao, mystical Catholicism and Judaism have much in common. All is One and the One is 3 and many.... All is One and the One is Infinite.
