Dystopia is one of the most recurrent subgenres of science fiction
What will business reality be like in 2027?
Dystopia is one of the most recurrent subgenres of science fiction. Essentially, it is a leap forward or backward in time to tell us how things would have happened or if a series of circumstances had occurred in the past or in the present. Today we propose one of these trips in time to try to discover what will be the reality of business in ten years. What scenario will professionals face in 2027?
Our first prediction is that technology will be even more present in economic activity. Many jobs that are currently covered by workers in flesh and blood will be fully or partially mechanized. Which jobs could be most affected? In view of the progress made in recent times, possibly the sector of storage and distribution of consumer goods will be one of those that will give entry to a greater number of robots. Artificial Intelligence (AI, for its acronym in English) will be the protagonist in this scenario.
We also anticipate significant changes in the way we perform tasks such as accounting or data management. The automatic systems will be more present although, in this case, the control tasks will continue requiring the presence of professionals (highly qualified, of course). But, if so many jobs are lost, where will the affected labor force go? Possibly, the greatest opportunities come from the hand of temporary and personalized services (think of Uber and other analogous platforms). In general, the most creative professionals should rub their hands because they will be highly demanded in 2027.
Another trend that will become predominant within ten years is flexibility in contractual relationships. As a result of the processes of robotization and liberalization of the different economic sectors, workers will change jobs more easily. Rigid work environments will be a thing of the past, giving entrance to generations of professionals who have grown up in a changing world and who have internalized the need to reinvent themselves permanently.
A final prediction that may arouse greater sympathy is that in 2027 we will enjoy much more leisure and recreation time. Why? Basically, because the jobs will require more preparation but will be less intensive. That is to say, the working hours will tend to be reduced in many cases. That is why maybe in 2027 we will really start to live.
