Living At The Edge Of The Atacama Desert And Pacific Ocean, Peru

in #ecology5 years ago

Is a beautiful and wonderful place to live. The ocean is teeming with fish to catch for your diet. The local markets are flooded with vegetables and produce from the mountains. You can literally buy any kind of produce you would like, at the freshest quality possible. The best part is that there are waves to be surfed every day.
The one thing we are lacking in our area is fresh water. Here in northern Peru the water table on the coastal region depends on the amount of rainfall that happens in the mountains. Here in Lobitos there is water everywhere, but is all of the salt water varieties.
This is what we do here in the north of Peru. We fill canisters with water two or three times a week then pump that water up to a holding tank on the roof. These water tanks provide us with fresh water for bathing, etc. through the use of gravity.
It is a bit if work to make sure you have your fresh water supply for the week, but I wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else. I may not have fresh water to drink, but I have good waves in salt water to surf.
Hope everyone out there in steemit land is having a great day. Enjoy.
