I've pondered this for years, decades even. I have no simple answer, and maybe not even a correct one. Both wealth and poverty in any system seem to come with similar spiritual advantages and disadvantages. I don't feel like the answer can be drawn from the economic sector alone, as it is one organ in a larger body of any society.
