Hive Blockchain Guide: How to Login and Use Hive, See Your Balances and More

hey everybody today is March 20th 2020 welcome back to another episode of the Leo show so today is a great day for everybody on the steam blockchain for the entire Steam community we have officially launched the hive blockchain and a lot of community members have worked on this a lot of great developers have put in a ton of time to make this a reality and after the actions of Justin Sun and Tron and Steam it yesterday where they were censoring a hive related posts from the steam it front end which is absolutely ridiculous I think a lot of people saw Justin's true colors come out in this action of censoring posts that were about hive on steam it and steam its entire vision is built on the idea of censorship free and censorship resistant content creation and the fact that Justin simply censored content that he didn't agree with is just a showcase of how corrupt how immature and how anti crypto and anti decentralization justin is so I think he just really he put the nail in his own coffin yesterday by taking that action and I think he really I think there were some people who were kind of sitting on the fence between steam and hive they didn't really know what they wanted to do yet and I think Justin kind of made the case for them to jump off the fence and go to hive I think hive is really all that the steam community needs it's all that we want it's got everything that we need to succeed in the future and it's a blockchain without justin sun without the steam it ninja mine stake and i think that is what truly matters I think what truly matters is that we have defeated a centralized power who came in and tried to buy our community who came in and tried to destroy the fundamentals of steam tried to destroy our governance and decentralization and I think he found out that you can't buy a community just as many people have said you really can't take over a community with money you can't just come in and buy what we've spent four years building so the steam dream lives on it lives on through hive we're all going to hive I see that so many applications are now going to hive I know that pretty much a majority of the applications on Steam had already committed to hive and pretty much any of the applications that were left over that hadn't fully committed yet to hive pretty much committed right after Justin's actions in censoring content so it's amazing to see how quickly this came together if you saw this hive dot IO website just two days ago there was basically nothing here it was just one page it was a skeleton page basically just describing that hive was coming that hive was going to go live on March 20th and now it's really a developed website there are a lot of resources here all the block explorer projects everything that you really need to know about hive is on this website and I think that's amazing how quickly this all came together and the fact that I mean this this project really came together in a short period of time and hive is really the manifestation of the steam community it is the embodiment of steams core principles and that clearly is shown through the witnesses through the developers through the community members that all contributed to make this happen so the hive IO account on Steam put out this post that hive was arriving shortly the hard fork as of the time I'm recording this the hard fork has gone through and it's been a little bumpy but for the most part I haven't seen any real issues I haven't really encountered any any issues in trying to use hive so far but again I just want to reiterate what they're saying here is that this is a launch of a blockchain it it will hopefully go smoothly but there's a good chance that it won't go smoothly in that there might be some bugs there might be some delays there might be some service disruptions and some small technical issues but give it a little bit of time and you'll see that hive is essentially what you have grown used to on the steam blockchain it's gonna be extremely familiar and you can already see I'm on peak D right now and it looks exactly like steam Peak looked the only difference is the rewards being in hive instead of steam so of course it's going to be almost an exact replica of what you're used to on Steam and that's a beautiful thing it allows us to convert over to hive with a very small learning curve so on the high of i/o website there are a lot of resources here I'll just quickly highlight this hive blocks comm is basically the steam decom website but for hive so it's the block Explorer for hive so it's cool to see all of this stuff really coming together in a short period of time and hive kings.com slash witnesses so this is showing the hive witnesses it's showing the votes that are further these witnesses it's also showing that they're all running version 23 which is for hive it shows their price feed and everything and of course a lot of stuff is going to change over the next couple of days as hive normalizes hive project Co is a website listing all the various projects on hive and again over the coming days I expect more projects to be here it'll be a lot of projects that you recognize a lot of projects that you are used to using that you love using on Steam pretty much all of the great projects on Steam are moving over to hive in due time so I would just give this a little bit of time and you're gonna see all the projects populate on here the amazing thing about steam is the amount of usage our apps get so as more projects it listed here and also on websites like state of the DAPs you're gonna see that hive is quickly going to overtake steam it's gonna be it's gonna be really funny to watch how steam kind of fades to the background and hive really takes the forefront I know that a lot of us are anxious to see how well hive performs as a new blockchain but also as a new blockchain that has an established community so that's what's really gonna make hive succeed it's the fact that this community has been growing for four years and we're just moving our location but the community and the heart of the community lives on so now let me get into a little bit of basics for using hive so if you want to log into hive it's exactly how you used to log into steam so same thing so if you go to peak decom this is steam Peak but for hive and if you go to login you can either use a hive signer or P clock I've heard that some people are having issues with hive signer right now and also hive keychain is still being developed I think that this is going to be ready soon but I don't have an exact date for when that's going to be ready but the easiest way is just to use P clock so then you click P clock click add an account and then add your steam username and then add your private posting key in the first box and optionally you can add your private active key and if you add your private active key you'll be able to use peak decom for transactions for sending hive and for the active key operations for now I'll just do the posting key just for the sake of time and then you enter a secure code so this is like a PIN number that you would use on a bank account you just enter a secure code and just remember whatever you input here you'll have to enter this when you log into P clock through your account so you'll use this to log in instead of having to enter in your private keys every time which is nice so here I added my account now I just enter in that pin number and I'm logged in so it's really easy to log in and you of course you're just using your same private keys from the steam blockchain and it's replicated on hive and then you can go to your profile and you'll see that all of your posts all your previous activity is all on hive it's all loaded from Steam so up until the snapshot date everything from steam that you were doing is now on hive and even the rewards are there as well so whenever the payout time is you'll earn hive so in 17 minutes I'll get the payout for this post and this post is still being paid out on Steam so now I'm earning both steam and hive in 17 minutes which is kind of nice but it's it's a seamless transition and I think that's what what really matters for hive I think a lot of people are going to realize just how easy it is to pour it over to hive to use this new blockchain it's exactly what we're used to and that is an important fact so then you can go over to your wallet I know this is what most people are curious about and on your wallet page you can see that now you've got hive you've got hive power your delegations from steam still stand so if you are delegating steam to another user on the steam blockchain now you're delegating the equivalent amount of hive to that same user so you can change your delegations and you can also change your power downs accordingly if you want different actions on your hive power versus your steam power I know a lot of people are powering down steam now and if you had started a power down before the hard fork date then your power down is still going on the hive blockchain so maybe you want to cancel that power down or change it on hive but keep your previous power down on steam you can do all of that from peak decom pretty easily so further than that if you want to make a post or do anything again it's exactly what you were used to on on the steam blockchain on steam peak calm it's all the same and of course there are some little changes like this so again I mean hive launched literally three hours ago so give some of these smaller details sometime and they will work themselves out so if you want to start earning hive just make your posts do your up votes like you normally would I think a lot of people will find that it's very easy to just do their normal activities but do them over on hive instead of steam and you can also do them you can mirror your actions on hive and steam so if you make a post on hive you could also post it onto steam by just copy and pasting it and posting through steam Peak I know I personally will be spending most of my time on hive if not all of my time I might do some copy pasting to post on to steam and earn those rewards as well but definitely in putting my attention putting my energy and putting my focus into the hive blockchain this is the people's blockchain it is the steam community manifesting its own blockchain and disconnecting from justin sun and disconnecting from steam so just a quick note on the steam Leo community I know a lot of people are wondering what we're gonna do obviously we've got steam in our name and that is going to change we're gonna do a little rebranding and by the time this video is edited and published I'm sure that the rebranding will have already happened I'll have the post out but steam leo is going to become Leo finance it's going to be the very same community that you've grown used to but with a different name with a little bit of a different branding twist and everything is pretty much remaining the same of course you can post to our hive community and earn hive tokens for your posts but also we are currently working on the Leo reward system for hive posts so soon you'll see that posts into our community on hive on the hive blockchain will also be earning Leo tokens so I know a lot of people are curious about how exactly that's going to work and I will put more details of that system into the official announcement post for Leo finance later today but at the end of the day I'm really happy with hive I'm really happy with how this launch has gone so far as far as I've seen it's been pretty smooth and of course there always could be some little issues so if you encounter any little bugs or issues I encourage you to reach out on the hive discord or elsewhere you can find all these links on the hive i/o website and I encourage you to report those bugs report anything that you see and I know that everything is getting worked on very diligently the team the community behind hive is so powerful it's the steam community that you know and love and I'm really excited to see where hive goes where does hive end up in a week in a year I think overall this blockchain has so much potential this community is so strong and the Justin Sun and Tron take over just made us stronger it allowed us to really collect ourselves move over to a new blockchain and get rid of this demon ink power that has always kind of strangled this this community and the steam blockchain now that we don't have that centralized force now that we don't have that power structure looming over us we can really spread our wings we can fly we can make hive something that is incredible in the crypto space and we can really show the world
