What YOU NEED TO KNOW about the AUSTRALIAN BUSHFIRES

in #ecotrain5 years ago (edited)

Today January 26th is Australia Day, this day is when the first fleet of colonists ships landed in Sydney. There is still on going debate if this exact date should really be celebrated in what is said to be 'an inclusive day for Australians' despite the fact this marks the day aboriginals lost their land and have been oppressed ever since. Today is a continued reminder that we shouldn't be celebrating colonists ideals that we really need to look back into history and really understand the other perspective & indeginous wisdom.

Welcome back xx
The aboriginal people have a wealth of knowledge that is just ignored, it is really disgraceful how they have been treated. Of course they know how to look after the land. they lived so close to it and respected it. now they are forced to live in horrible conditions.

Its disgusting, i spent some time working in the outback and was really eye opening. The situation is really fucked up and racism continues, i hooe there is a brighter future for australia, there needs to be more power in the hand of the native people

Great video!
Couple of days ago, I came across this article https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/01/05/bush-bull/?fbclid=IwAR047iZCEqd3VAF-kjRn0X3XRkb8tzdKfEfcAQRQ5A4MWnhue7c_Cozqvcc
where I learned about the aboriginal practice of preventing large bush fires by controlled burning of scrub.
Trigger warning: It´s more of a right-wing article! 😘
