Should we get tired of planting Trees?

If you had the opportunity to plant trees every day, would you do it?

If @thegreens had the opportunity to plant trees every day, they will do it and this explains why for the second time this week (World Day to Combat Desertification Week), @thegreens has been coordinating tree planting exercises and awareness raising campaigns about desertification.
On Monday 18th June, we were at Muwatsu Quarter in Mile 8 Mankon, Bamenda – North West Region of Cameroon. More details @ https://steemit.com/ecotrain/@thegreens/we-invested-trees-in-the-land-we-are-adding-the-value-of-land-and-fighting-desertification-2018wdcd

There, we planted 700 Trees in 03 Water Catchments, created Muwatsu Community Tree Nursery, played Football for Nature, sensitized the population about desertification and trained the community and water management committee in Water Catchment Protection.

On Thursday 21st June, we went to Chomba where we planted 500 Trees in the Atualah Water Catchment in Chomba village in Mezam Division of the North West Region of Cameroon.

But what did it take to get to the Atualah Water Catchment?

At the foot of Atualah, we shared the 500 trees among every body and got set for the ascending trip to the Atualah Water Catchment.
Atualah means top of the hill and this implies it took bravery and 75 minutes to get to the top of the hill where the water catchment is located. For 20 minutes, the 24 man delegation arrived their first stop which was a mango tree with very shiny and ripe mangoes.

For 15 minutes, we trekked to the Chomba Village Shrine where we had a 5 minutes break at the Shrine. Photography is not allowed in the shrine.

Enough energy was built from the rest at the shrine to brave the more than 40 minutes of steep hill climbing to Atualah.

At last, we arrived the top of the hill exhausted but motivated because we were determined to invest in the land of Chomba.

We planted 500 trees comprising of Prunus Africana, Vukanga and White Mahogany in the water catchment area.

It was really exciting and rewarding to climb the Bamenda Highlands in the village of Chomba to do this great work for Mother Earth.
Among the 24 participants, 10 were from The Greens and they really enjoyed the tree planting exercise.

From Atualah, we descended back to Chomba village square and the sweet, juicy mangoes stop, was just too awesome. At the village square we ate and drank before driving back to the Regional Delegation of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development.

At the Delegation, the pupils and students participated in a World Day to Combat Desertification quiz and 09 young people emerged “Desert Champions”.

Of the 09, four of them were from The Greens and we are proud that the young people we are mentoring are truly representing our work. Congrats to Bobby Valsa, Chi Thelma, Mbwame Ethelthreda and Thanian Shiri who made us proud.
