Problem with Indian Education System
Case 1:
"Indian education system kills understanding. It focuses on rote learning"
A : Can you please elaborate that how an induction motor starts?
B: I don’t know.
A: Why?? You have scored highest in physics.
B: I have scored highest in exam. The exam being over, the laws go out of my mind.
Case 2:
"Indian education system kills creativity."
Student: Sir, I have changed your answer a little bit. I added few points to it. Can you please check it?
Teacher: You don't need to show that you know a lot. Write as I have given you. Only then you will be awarded marks.
Student : Okay sir.
Case 3:
"Indian education system kills curiosity to learn new things. "
Student: Sir why have you skipped these topics of this chapter.
Teacher: These topics are not important for the exams. They have a low weightage of marks.
Student : But sir I want to know this.
Teacher : Don't waste your time on such topics. Focus on what I have taught you.
Student: Okay sir.
Case 4:
"Indian education system kills knowledge, wisdom, and practical applications of learnt things "
Teacher : We should not look down upon beggars.
The students note it down on their copies.
After the school is over, the students are coming home.
Then,
“ Look at that beggar, he is half-naked, how he is eating as if he had not eaten for years.”
“Yuck !! so dirty!! We have to change our routes. Otherwise, we have to see him everyday.”
Case 5:
"Indian education system kills the originality of students."
A: How many marks are you credited in the essay, ‘MY FAVOURITE WRITER’?
B: I have obtained full marks, 10/10.
A: Who is your favorite writer?
B: Its Munshi Premchand.
A: Which book of him do you like most?
B: Shit ! I have not read any of his books till date.
A: How did he become your favorite writer?
B: Because our teacher has given us that essay in the class.
Case 6:
Indian education system doesn't relate theories written in books with the practical things.
The children are taught the rhymes in nursery classes.
“Twinkle twinkle little stars”
“Baa, baa black sheep , have you any wool??”
Many children are able to recite the rhymes beautifully.
But, they don’t know the meaning of twinkle, and can’t imagine a night sky with twinkling stars.
Because none makes them familiar with such scenes!! They are made to learn and recite only.
Education means to bring out the best within yourself but this seems to fail due to our education system. Yes, there are some merits also of this system but it's no doubt that a lot of change or a new "revolution" is required for betterment of our Indian Education System.
