The greatest learning: to be a teacher!
Hello dear steemians!
Today I wanted to tell you about one of my passions, one of the things that I enjoy the most and with which I learn every day: educate.
I considered this profession while still in school, when I had to do a social work for the institution where I was studying. For this reason I had to plan together with a group of classmates a puppet show for a group of girls from 6 to 7 years of age. It was exciting to see their faces when listening to the play and see the puppets (which we made ourselves) and the gratitude of them, but that experience left something else in me.
The truth is that I was captivated by the girls, and that is why I asked the teacher of the group, to visit them in my free time. It was there when I decided that my vocation was to be a teacher.
This is how I started university and quickly looked for work in my area, so the first experience was obtained in a preschool where I had done some internships. There I got a great experience, I learned a lot to work with children of 2 years old who called me teacher, mom or just Dani. I understood what innocence is, purity of heart, love in the simplest. That a cry can calm a simple hug or a sticker can give a sincere smile.
I learned the enormous responsibility that we teachers assume, that when a representative tells you at the time of entry: "Teacher, I hand you over to my treasure" and it is because it is really leaving in your hands the greatest thing you have, the most important and valuable.
There I assimilated that a teacher does much more than teach the vowels, numbers and colors because more than once I had to lower a fever, heal a wound, hear a cry because dad went on a trip or share my snack with a student.
Currently I work in another institution, with girls from 6 to 8 years old, where I have the important responsibility of reinforcing daily reading, in addition to offering through a subject called Cognitive Skills, the opportunity to present to the girls various activities that pose challenges , solving problems and unknowns, or as they say: "Your subject is thinking", this is because we work on it with dice, dominoes, tangram, riddles, riddles, puzzles, bingo, among others.
The truth is that it is very fun to work with children, although there are people who may not understand what I am talking about because they think it is an insignificant and little valued work, but they have been thinking: who helped you to take the pencil correctly for Can you write ?, Who supervised your right to cut the scissors to be able to cut by a straight line ?, Do you remember who taught you to read correctly, without syllabication and respecting the pauses of punctuation marks? or who helped you make paper balls to reinforce the fine clip? They seem silly and unimportant things, but behind the simplest things you do today, surely there was a teacher who started that learning or was waiting for you to achieve it, supervising, looking for activities to offer their students, creating crafts for the mother's day, friendship or end of course. For example, several of the drawings that are present here are made by the girls at the request of the music teacher Erika Tassoni @erikatassoni
I have been able to discover in my profession that the best retribution I receive is to see how a student gets excited when reaching a goal. Listening to a: "Look teacher, I did it" are the words that one as a teacher expects to hear because you understand that there is reflected the effort that you have given to that being.
Even at the worst moment, the saddest day, the hardest moment, when I got up thinking that there is no solution to that problem, it is enough to get to the room and find a smile, an occurrence, a joke or a simple word , so that my day changes. It is feeling that I can disconnect from everything while I am in the classroom. My students have taught me that for them, one gets encouragement from where I do not have them, the energy to continue in spite of a terrible situation and that the most important thing is the trace that you leave in them, in their lives.
For me it is a great honor to be a teacher and to give myself with a lot of affection to my students, so that they remind me of a day like the teacher Daniela.
