Looks like only in the US the questions are becoming overly simplified.
As with your country, in Slovenia, the questions are actually too difficult. They catch you on one word. When you misinterpret wrongy a single word, you don't get the answer right.
How could an 8 years old child know what a 40 years old academic mathematician was thinking when she/he was composing the question? Add to it that the author of the question was not in the class for a single day of her/his professional career ...
sometimes, it's more like a language test than maths :-)
