Hello everyone! What about the latest idiom?

Alright guys, your idiom of the day is "Doesn't hold water", which means "not true or not reasonable".

Origin: in the Old Testament book of Jeremiah there is a verse that says "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water." (Jeremiah 2:13)

This is where the saying originates. God is complaining here that His people were sourcing themselves from idols (broken cisterns) which couldn't give them the satisfying life that only God can give.
