How Has College Changed During The Pandemic?

in #education5 years ago (edited)

Schools across the country have started to close down due to COVID-19 and for many high-school seniors have started to rethink going to college. COVID-19 has hit universities and colleges especially hard compared to many other businesses and schools. Congress, in March 2020, set aside over $325 million of COVID-19 relief money to go toward colleges with “severe unmet needs”. But the majority of these funds went to only 20 institutions, only benefiting less than 3,000 students. Economic uncertainty during COVID-19 is also throwing many colleges off base. The U.S. is projected to lose billions of dollars in potential business - at best, experts estimate a $77 billion loss, while at worst at $347 billion loss. This, combined with unemployment the highest it has been in a long time, can make college budgets quickly disappear.
