Student organization at my school
Ahmad Zaki, head of student organization
Each school has its own student organization. The school where I teach also has it. Our student organization is named OSIM (Organisasi Siswa Intra Madrasah). The organization is headed by a 3rd grader. But this year is the final period of his post.
The head of our organization is Ahmad Zaki. He is an intelligent student who is able to manage the organization.
Then what is my position here?
I am the vice principal in charge of student affairs. So, I am the builder of this student organization. All activities undertaken by the student organization must be approved by me. This is important! Because the activities of students should refer to the vision and mission of our school.
Lots of activities have been done by OSIM. These activities are very useful for our students. For example sports competition activities ever implemented. In this activity, we are looking for athlete candidates who will represent the school to compete in the advanced level. A few days ago, our students competed on badminton and table tennis. Unfortunately, our students failed in the competition. Although they failed, but they were still excited. Losing and winning are common in a competition.
Then, what are the benefits for students when becoming a student organization member? In this source mentioned, there are at least 12 reasons why students should join the student organization.
- Students will learn more about their self
- Students will develop soft skills
- Students will learn how to work with a team
- Students will get networking opportunities
- Students will gain practical experience in a safe environment
- Students will be able to use the skills you’ve learned in class
- Students will learn how to engage with diverse groups of people
- Students will gain leadership skills
- Students will get a break from your studies
- Students will expand your resume
- Students will be able to give back to the community
- Students will have fun!
Student organizations are good for students. Students who are active in the organization also tend to be active in the classroom. So I strongly encourage passive students that they can join the student organization.
