Start of a new rubric "An interesting Science for Children" #1

in #education7 years ago

Hello Steemit!!!

My name is Dr. Valentina. I am a specialist in the field of chemistry, in particular nanotechnology. I work as a lecturer at a university in Ukraine. One of my hobbies is to make interesting experiences with children.

It's no secret that physics and chemistry are complex sciences and, in addition, multifaceted.

But with all this, they can be very interesting and entertaining for children, who usually differ in lively curiosity and they want to know about everything around them and not only.

In order to instill in children love for physics, chemistry, and science as a whole, I propose to conduct interesting experiments at home with my child.

Starting today, I am starting a section on Stimit "Interesting Chemistry and Physics". In it, I will demonstrate and tell you how to make very interesting experiences at home. It does not require expensive and rare reagents. Everything can be found at home.

In this case, I will give a brief scientific explanation to each experiment.

Experience #1. We shall burst a ball

For this simple experiment, we need

• balloon
• knitting needles (or needle)
• liquid detergent

First, we lightly process the needle with liquid soap so that the friction is easier. After that, pierce the ball, but only in the places of least tension, that is, at the base and at the top of the ball. Only in this case, the ball will remain intact and will lie with a pierced spoke for several days and surprise others. To experience the ball turned out you do not need to inflate very much.

Explanation: The rubber of a balloon consists of molecules connected in long chains. Due to this, the ball has the ability to stretch. But if you pierce the ball in the place of greatest tension, the chains of these molecules break and the ball shatters. However, if you pierce the ball in the places of least tension, the molecules simply diverge and the spoke quietly passes through the rubber and the ball remains intact.

Follow me so as not to miss new interesting experiences in the rubric "Interesting Science for Children".
