No one really care about Snowden except crypto nuts like many of us, go ask your family and friends (not nerds please) who Snowden is.
Sure, but plenty of those people aren't on steemit yet. Would certainly boost user growth in the short term.
I think a minor Youtube or social media celebrity will create more waves honestly.
