"SLC22/WK1: Advanced Electrical Transformers and the Power Factor."
I am @shadow04

How are you all? Hope you all are well by the grace of Almighty Allah. Alhamdulillah, I am also very well. Today I present SLC22/WK1: Advanced Electrical Transformers and the For joining the Power Factor contest. At the very beginning of the contest I would like to thank @mahadisalim sir for giving us such a beautiful contest.

The names of the two transformers shown in the diagram are:-
• Step up transformer.(220/415v)
• Step down transformer.(415/220v)
Step up transformer
- Step up transformer is used to change low voltage to high voltage. Since, the first transformer in the diagram converts 220V to 415V. So, it is a step up transformer.
Step down transformer
- Step down transformer is used to convert high voltage to low voltage to deliver electricity to consumers' homes. Since, the second transformer in the diagram changes 415V to 220V, it is a step down transformer.

•Radiator is a covering around the transformer which keeps it cool. When the transformer is under load, the oil heats up and enters the radiator to cool it.
•When the oil and coil heat up while the transformer is running on load, a thermostat mounted inside measures it and displayed on a meter mounted outside. In case of overheating the transformer is switched off by means of a tripping relay.
HT Bushing is the primary side of the transformer where the input voltage of the transformer is provided.
• LT bushing is the secondary side of the transformer. The voltage input from the HT bushing is output through the LT bushing and connected to the led.
•Transformer uses Breather to take in air from outside. The silica inside the Breather dehumidifies the air.
• There is a drum-shaped oil conservator tank on top of the transformer, it is called conservator tank. When the transformer runs under load, the oil comes out of the body and accumulates there.
• Buchholz relay is a transformer safety device that shuts down the transformer to avoid accidents due to oil, coil or any problem inside the transformer.
A step down transformer is used to consume electricity in my home which is a single-phase transformer. Step down transformer is used to consume electricity in customers' homes, and I am a rural resident and since there is no factory in our area which does not consume much electricity, single-phase transformer is used. Electricity is supplied to all the houses in the area through phase transformer.
Transformer name | Step down transformer |
---|---|
Transformer Rating | 2500 |
Primary Voltage(HV) | 33000 |
Secondary Voltage (LV) | 415 |
Current(HV) | 43.74 |
Current(LV) | 3478.11 |
The ratio of active power to apparent power is called power factor. Again, the cosine of voltage and current can also be referred to as power factor. Generally, The value of power factor provided by the electricity supply companies of our country is within 0.95 to 1.
Point | Transformer "A" | Transformer "B" |
---|---|---|
Rated KVA | 2500 | 200 |
Mass of oill | 2260Kg | 244Kg |
Total Mass | 6830Kg | 985Kg |
The name of the oil used in a transformer is pyranol. (✅ True)
The core loss of the transformer is in the winding.(❌ False)
The efficiency of the transformer is less than that of other electrical devices.
(❌ False)The transformer rating is in KW.
(❌ False)The transformer's insulation test is done with a megger meter.(✅True)
