The importance of testing electronic components and the basic introduction of Multitester.
Testing of electronic components is the first thing that we do whether we are still a beginner in electronics or a professional. In school, the first thing that we do in building a project is first to test all the components to be used. because testing the electronic components is of prime importance, it is necessary for us to know thoroughly the correct way to test the components and the right way to determine accurate test result.
The Multitester and its parts. The Multitester is the most versatile test instrument when testing electronic components. It is made up of three instruments, such as Voltmeter, Ohmmeter, and Milliammeter. As such, the Multitester can be used to measure voltage, ohms of resistance, and current in milliamperes. Due to this, the Multitester is also called VOM for short.
The Multitester at various ranges. As we have said earlier the Multitester can be used to measure voltage, ohms of resistance, and current in milliamperes. When the Multitester is used to measure current, the range switch of the Multitester is adjusted at the current range.
When the Multitester is used to measure resistance, the range switch of the Multitester is adjusted as the ohms or ohmmeter range.
On the other hand, to adjust the Multitester at voltmeter's range, we have to consider the following:
- Are we going to measure AC voltage or DC voltage? If we are to measure the AC voltage, Then we have to adjust the range switch of the Multitester at the AC voltage range.
- If we are to measure DC voltage, then we have to adjust the range switch of the Multitester at the DC voltage range.

Correct! Oftentimes most of the Engineering students failed to do this. The visual and testing/inspection should be the first thing to do. Equipment error is always the first thing :)
I will be featuring it in my weekly #technology and #science curation post for the @minnowsupport project and the Creators' Guild! The @creatorsguild is a new group of Steem bloggers and content creators looking to improve the overall quality of their niche.
Wish not to be featured in the curation post this Friday? Please let me know. In the meantime, keep up the hard work, and I hope to see you at the Creators' Guild!
If you have a free witness vote and like what I am doing for the Steem blockchain it would be an honor to have your vote for my witness server. Either click this SteemConnect link or head over to steemit.com/~witnesses and enter my username it the box at the bottom.
Thank you :D
