Innovation: ANTI-BURGLAR LOCKDOWN SECURITY SYSTEM

in #electronics7 years ago

Good day fellow steemians!

In this post I want to share to you our project in electronics. In connection with this project we are assigned to find problems which is happening in our society today and choose one of the major problems. Our task is to make a solution to that problem. We are obliged to create a device which can help to solve the problem.

Nowadays, There are some people who steal things in order to fulfill, satisfy or survive this cruel world of ours. Therefore, money is not the root of evil but the lack of money is the root of evil. Burglary is one of the most common crime today, there is no guarantee that you are safe even in your own home which is usually our comfort zone. The worst case is if you the victim of burglary, you'll lost your properties, valuable things and can also lead your life in danger. Would you let that happen?

What is ANTI-BURGLAR LOCKDOWN SECURITY SYSTEM?

ANTI-BURGLAR LOCKDOWN SECURITY SYSTEM is our solution to the problem, in order to increase the safety and security of our home we have proposed this system. The past inventions regarding the same concerns only alarms then there is a tendency that the burglar will have a chance to escape or put the owner’s life in danger. What we will do is to secure the safety of the owner at the same time catch the burglar. In this situation, we install servo motors on doors especially the main doors and the bed room doors, the servo motor is responsible on locking the doors thus keeping the owner inside his/her room where he/she is temporarily safe. We also have GSM module installed that is responsible for sending an SMS message to a nearby police station for immediate assistance thus giving as a greater chance to catch the burglar

Objectives

The purpose of the study is to develop an Anti-burglar lockdown system with GSM notification with the following main purposes:

  1. To secure the safety of the home owners by locking their doors and windows when our system detects an intruder
  2. To activate the system without the awareness of the burglar
  3. To make our police power more effective in assisting the problem by sending them a distress SMS message

FLOOR PLAN DESIGN

floor plan.jpg

Above image is our final floor plan design. We installed servo motors at each end sides of doors and windows, especially the main entrance door. These system works through the application of PIR(Passive Infrared Module) Sensors, Micropocessor, GSM module and a couple of servo motor.

MATERIALS

  1. Arduino Mega

The Arduino Mega 2560 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560 (datasheet). It has 54 digital input/output pins (of which 15 can be used as PWM outputs), 16 analog inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. The Mega is compatible with most shields designed for the Arduino Duemilanove or Diecimila.

  2. PIR(Passive Infrared Module) Sensor

A passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view. They are most often used in PIR-based motion detectors. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit heat energy in the form of radiation. Usually this radiation isn't visible to the human eye because it radiates at infrared wavelengths, but it can be detected by electronic devices designed for such a purpose.
The term passive in this instance refers to the fact that PIR devices do not generate or radiate energy for detection purposes. They work entirely by detecting infrared radiation emitted by or reflected from objects. They do not detect or measure "heat"

  3. GSM Module SIM900

This is a GSM/GPRS-compatible Quad-band cell phone, which works on a frequency of 850/900/1800/1900MHz and which can be used not only to access the Internet, but also for oral communication (provided that it is connected to a microphone and a small loud speaker) and for SMSs. Externally, it looks like a big package (0.94 inches x 0.94 inches x 0.12 inches) with L-shaped contacts on four sides so that they can be soldered both on the side and at the bottom. Internally, the module is managed by an AMR926EJ-S processor, which controls phone communication, data communication (through an integrated TCP/IP stack), and (through an UART and a TTL serial interface) the communication with the circuit interfaced with the cell phone itself.
The processor is also in charge of a SIM card (3 or 1,8 V) which needs to be attached to the outer wall of the module.

  4. Servo Motor

A servomotor is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration.[1] It consists of a suitable motor coupled to a sensor for position feedback. It also requires a relatively sophisticated controller, often a dedicated module designed specifically for use with servomotors.
Servomotors are not a specific class of motor although the term servomotor is often used to refer to a motor suitable for use in a closed-loop control system.
Servomotors are used in applications such as robotics, CNC machinery or automated manufacturing.

The PIR sensor is a sensor that detects movement from a range of 7 meters from its 120 degrees looking angle. Once it detects a movement, the PIR sensor will send an input signal to the Arduino UNO. The Arduino UNO is a programmable microcontroller. It will then activate the SMS module. When the SMS module is activated by the Arduino UNO, it will send a distress SMS message containing the location of the house to the nearby police station. The Arduino UNO will also activate the door lock solenoid. The door lock solenoid will lock the doors of the owner’s room and the main doors to secure the safety of the owner and to trap and catch the burglar.

Great Project! This really helps to improve the safety of our home, we consider our home to be one of our comfort zone, and its a great relief to live when you know you're living in a much safer place.. indeed every household should impliments this. Also helps to prevent crimes and rubbery.. Nice post.. THanks or sharing..
