RE: Senator Elizabeth Warren supports reparations for blacks because of slavery

in #elizabeth6 years ago (edited)

Look, that's fine but you know my family was in the North moved to the united states during the 1840s they fought in the civil war for the union, that ended 154 years ago. These were my 7th great grandparents. I don't think they imagined that I would have to pay taxes 7 generations later for crimes the south committed. I would rather pay taxes (some taxes are being paid) to the American Indians for what my ancestors did to their land in the name of a middle eastern God. To this day they are suffering from it. And I am truly sorry

Sort:

Free labor, rape of our women, no access to education, removed from our native language culture and history, the lynching of our men and women, the torture of our men and women. Then after that we still face institutional racism, we are still being killed by police officers, we still cannot receive fair and equal terms in Americas justice system.
I think that reparations would be a good place to start.

Again, that has nothing to do with me. Sihit I don't even live in that country anymore but I vote and pay taxes. The crimes you have listed were committed by someone breaking the law. Not me. They can pay for their crimes that's what the justice system is for. The justice system screws everyone not just black people so that's probably a better place to start fixing that instead of making it worse by handing out more money to people just based on their skin color that's institutional racism.

You vote and pay taxes, so you are an active participant of the government of the United States. Sounds like your trying to seperate yourself from the situation, its your history if your a United States citizen. Don't run from it accept it.

The crimes you have listed were committed by someone breaking the law. Not me.
Once again your trying to seperate yourself from American History. When deep research is done, any corporation that is proven to have profited from slavery or simply owned slaves will have to pay into a fund that will pay the descendants of slaves. Some of that money will go towards scholarships, and other education rewards for African American citizens. Also some money will go towards low interest loans available only to African Americans to start small business, and buy homes. Access to loans through banks have always been a problem for African Americans because banks would either deny us, or give us extremely high rates to deter people of color from elevating ourselves out of poverty. But there are many constructive ways that the money could be used.

You are not a victim of slavery as much as I am not a perpetrator of it no matter what your high school civics teacher tells you

You have revealed your true colors your a white racist.

They can pay for their crimes that's what the justice system is for.
Who is "they"? The "they" you talk about is you. Every person who profited and contributed to slavery is guilty. The fact that your so defensive about this issues leads me to believe that you, or your family is guilty.
The justice system is corrupt, I know that any you know that. Why do you think black men are shot by police more often than white men, when black people make up 12% of the population.

that's institutional racism.
No Institutionalized racism is using the police to harass a certain race of people by arresting them for non violent offenses. Using misdemeanors as a way to get black people into the legal system, and have them pay hefty fines. If they cant pay the fines, put out an arrest warrant for them. These are the practices of white cops in poor neighborhoods in America. That's institutionalized racism.
Also not teaching black history in schools to black students is a form of institutionalized racism. Not allowing black students to look up to black leaders who fought during the the civil rights movement for freedom is institutional racism perpetrated by the education system in America.

So it's police fault people break the law?

Who will pay those reparations? White people? Asians? Base tax? Trow it in on income taxes? Then blacks would be paying themselves. How are you going to prove I'm not black? Forced DNA test?

I already answered this, but did you ask when the Jews received reparations, who paid, and where did the money come from?

Read this article and tell me where the money came from.

We can model the reparations very similar to the reparations disbursement for Jews from the holocaust. The details will get worked out, the framework is already in place.

Yes jews that were actually in the Holocaust

Thats all you have? See thats the problem with most of you white supremacists, you cant reason because you dont have the educational skill to read and research. Its like talking to undeveloped children. But dont worry black reparations are coming.
