Ambassador of France in Ukraine spoke about the possibility of suspension of visa-free travel with the EU
The French ambassador to Kiev, Isabel Dumont, said that the European Union discussed the possibility of suspending a visa-free regime with Ukraine due to the fact that the draft law on reducing the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) was considered in the parliament.
She told about this in an interview with European Truth.
"My answer to him is yes!" - Dumont answered the question about the possibility of suspending a visa-free regime in connection with the introduction of a draft law on reducing the independence of the National Olympic Academy.
She noted that for the EU they became a "shock" of attacks on the fight against corruption.
"When we saw such attacks, such attacks on those who are fighting corruption, for us, for the European Union, it was a shock. Frankly I will say: we believe that it is for Ukraine - turning back, coming back! The people who stood at the roots of these attacks on anti-corruption bodies do not correspond to those ambitions that we saw during the "Maidan" period. These representatives of the authorities are unworthy of those Ukrainians who gave their lives for the future of Ukraine, "the ambassador said.
Dumont noted that she realized that the deprivation of visa would have hit ordinary Ukrainians.
"This is life, this is life," she added.
