Erdogan urged the world not to sell for US dollars
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expects that the UN General Assembly will support the resolution on Jerusalem.
"Today there will be a vote in the UN, the US president is threatening, the cradle of democracy is looking for voices around the world that can be bought." Mr. Trump, you can not buy democratic will of Turkey for your dollars, "said Erdogan speaking in Ankara.
Turning to the international community, he called: "Do not sell your will." The Turkish leader also expressed the hope that the US will not get the result expected, "and the world will teach them a very good lesson."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously said that the Jewish state does not recognize the results of the vote. "Jerusalem is our capital, we will continue building there, and embassies of other countries in Israel will be transferred to Jerusalem," he said, calling the UN "the house of lies."
On December 18, Washington blocked a resolution in the UN Security Council calling for the repeal of the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Voting at the General Assembly on this document will be held today.
Trump stated that his country would stop providing financial assistance to countries that would support the resolution.
In early December, he announced the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and signed a document on the transfer of the American embassy from Tel Aviv there. The decision of the head of the White House caused a negative reaction on the part of many states of the world, first of all the countries of the Middle East and Palestine.
