RE: Dating platform for Steemians - STEEMDER

in #en6 years ago

Tinder is an actual word and thus a clever play on words.
Steemder is not a word... and doesn't really work just FYI
DER is not a pleasant word and is officially not an english word (i think)
Der is more of a negative somewhat old expression in english. King of expressing something "obviously stupid"

So maybe you want to nip it in the bud there with the naming thing.

Sort:

Yup. Got to agree, 'der', is pretty much 'duh', or 'you fucked up, der'.

Could work perfectly in German though!

Der in German is ”The” masculine version.

But you know, everyone knows Tinder, so without learning you can think - Steemder is something like Tinder but on Steem. Also there is no word like Steempeak ;)

Peak is a real word though, and it has a connotation of being the best at something (steem). Honestly I didn't make the connection to Tinder as Steemder is a really awkward term. If they were determined to keep "steem" in the name, a play on the word "steamy" (something like Steemi) would have been more clever, as steamy has romantic connotations.

Why not use @date, simple Quick and easy

Exactly, I don't understand why most of these platforms are using Steem in their name. Usually it's not catchy and deters people from outside Steem from using it.
