In the teaching and learning process, developing the students speaking skills seems to be the most difficult thing. There were a few necessary steps to be taken to teach speaking in the classroom, one of the steps in developing students speaking skill is building the communication between the teachers and the students. The teachers should be able to conduct a comfortable situation and always make a different style in teaching English, so that the students will be interested and enjoy the class activity.
The techniques to make the comfortable situation were very useful since they had some problems. They lacked of vocabulary. Moreover, they did not know how to say the words correctly. In addition, most of them were shy to express their ideas to speak in English.
In fact, the teacher was good enough in teaching English, but it was very difficult for the students to keep silent and pay attention to the teacher. They did not pay attention to the teacher and seemed reluctant in learning.
I am as an English teacher must have some media or techniques to improve my students' speaking skill. No I want to tell you about how to improve students' speaking skill. Check it out!

  1. Make an English conversation group in the class.

  2. Play and watch the English movie and video clip. Nowdays, we can find so many English Videos in Youtube and we can download them. After we download those videos, we play in the class and ask our students to watch them. After they watch them, we ask the students' to retell what they have watched.

  3. Ask our students to listen the music and sing songs. English music in particular is very popular worldwide so we’ll probably find that our students already listen to it and there is considerable evidence that listening to music aids in the development of grammar and vocabulary for second language learners. As we’ll already know from our own experience many of the words used in songs follow a rhythm and are repeated, which makes them get stuck in our head and for English students this helps to memorise them and their meaning for when they use the language in their speaking.

  4. Get our students to record videos of themselves speaking. Students can record themselves at home. Then we watch the video back with them in the classroom and discuss where they need to improve their English speaking or what they did well. We can also record our vide, so the students can compare their video to ours and copy what we say.

  5. Ask the students to talk with their friends in English.

Actually, there are so many ways how to improve students' speaking skill. But in this blog I just mention five ways of then. Oke, that's all. Be a smart teacher!
