Music Education at Home

According to the RAE Dictionary, when it speaks of education, it refers to the action and effect of education, that is, the intellectual faculties of the child or young person are developed through exercises, examples, precepts, etc. Therefore, when a child-girl is educated, it is done with a purpose, with set goals, with clear objectives, where she should go, as well, because in the same legislature it contemplates that education is a right that every child and young person has and it is a duty that each of us parents, representatives, teachers and all adults responsible for their children have.

We know that the first education begins at home, since we are born we learn from our first models (parents) or some other relative who lives at home (grandparents, uncles). There, we process the habits, values and lifestyles of our family, that is, our first school.

But when we talk about education and include the word music in prayer, many parents give the command to the professional in the field, and it is understandable because not everyone speaks this language, not everyone perceives music "in a special way" (as a third grade student says) and I complement that I am not aware of music, that is to say, they only listen to songs or music such because it is the one that is in fashion or because they are beautiful.

Because, as a mother and music teacher, music education can be instilled, developed or cultivated at home by parents. It already begins when the mother or father sings or lulls the child-girl since they are babies, when they put on music while they are doing their daily chores and the child-girl is told to carry the pulse when they walk, when they pick up the toys to the rhythm of a song, when they imitate the qualities of each sound they hear (treble, and the different timbres of instruments or voices heard in songs, when dancing spontaneously with the child-girl, when stopping at the end of the music or listening to silence, walking and bending down when listening to low or high sounds. Therefore, all these suggestions I make to parents, I recommend that when they are executed naturally, that the child-girl does not feel any kind of pressure if she does it incorrectly, that they are taken as a kind of game, but a game with intention and so everyone will experience and cultivate the basic elements for the initiation in music as the pulse, accent, rhythm, but at home, at their own pace, with their own habits, in the daily dynamics that each family has.
