Enigma.co hacked. Hackers steal more than $400K

in #enigma7 years ago (edited)

Enigma.co which was conducting a presale was hacked. Hackers put up a new page at enigma.co domain with their own eth address and sent emails asking people to deposit in that address. Since the official website itself was compromised and contained the hacker's ethereum address, many users have deposited money into the fake address. Almost 1100 ether have been deposit there till now. The website is now offline. However hackers have control over their social accounts - both telegram and slack.

Hacker's eth address seems to have already collected a massive $400K

The largest payment is of 100 Ether

Do not trust any email or social accounts of enigma until the situation is resolved.

Do spread the word as people are still depositing into that address

Edit : The ether collected is increasing at a worrisome pace. They are already reaching $450K now. In the last 30 mins, I see they have collected around $50K

Thanks for sharing such information @rudystyle ....blessings

Unfortunately despite all warnings, people keep falling into scams and phishing attempts. Got three fake emails which are easy to see they are not from Enigma. People who sent to the hacker address won't get refunds, unfortunately for them.

Yes people should be careful. However the pre sale page with the hacker's address was in the official enigma.co website. Most people will trust info which is in the official site

Hacking is some kind of online terrorism i feel so sorry for the victims. Recently even same thing happened with bitthumb in korea. I hope victims will get back their funds soon.

The simplest way to stop crackers, is to employ hackers. If you have a lot to lose, then security is always a top priority, if you don't stress security and don't test it, crackers are naturally going to hurt you.

Yeah, hiring white hacker to check and improve your web security is necessary these days especially for the uprising money involved companies.

Pay some, save all

Didn't hear about bitthumb
